Prayer Concerns for the week of December 31, 2012

 Mali
·         Please continue to pray for the children and people of northern Mali who suffer horribly under the brutality of Islamist radicals who have seized a vast part of this Texas-size territory. http://tinyurl.com/c8k6obc
·         Pray for girls and women who are raped and forcibly married. Militant fighters are encouraged to marry women and girls, some as young as 10 years old, then after raping them, have a quick divorce performed.
·         Pray for children who are recruited for armed conflict. Boys as young as 10 years old have been taken to training fields and taught to use weapons and plant bombs.
·         Please pray for children who have been sold to militants by their parents as the economy worsens in this area and food becomes scarcer.
·         Pray for children who are denied an education. Pray for those who are sick as most medical personnel have fled the country and many hospitals and clinics have been destroyed.
·         Pray for the thousands of displaced women and children who have fled to southern Mali to escape the violent treatment these militants have imposed in the form of a harsh version of sharia law.
·         Please pray for peace in this country. Pray the Mali government and Islamist extremists will work together to achieve peace.  http://tinyurl.com/d676n42

Pakistan
·         Continue to lift in prayer Rimshah Masih, an 11-year-old little girl with Down’s syndrome who was accused of blasphemy, but recently was exonerated by the Islamabad High Court. Rimshah, whose family is Christian, was accused of burning pages from the Koran by neighbors in her predominately Muslim neighborhood. http://tinyurl.com/b8cu5de
·         Please keep praying for Rimshah and her family as extremists have threatened this little girl and her family with harm if the government doesn’t convict her. Pray they will be safe from persecution or assassination attempts. Pray for those who stood up for Rimshah as they are also in danger.
·         Pray for the 600 Pakistani Christians in Rimshah’s old neighborhood who were forced to leave because of the blasphemy accusation. Pray God will provide a new community for these families in which they will be able to worship God in peace, go to school, and work in jobs that pay a living wage.
·         Pray for the local Muslim leader who accused Rimshah of blasphemy as he goes to trial. Please pray for justice in this case and that the witnesses will speak the truth, the lawyers will behave with integrity, and that the judge will act impartially. Pray for the safety of all those involved in this case as many may become targets for extremists because of the case.
·         Pray for Christians in Pakistan who are at risk of persecution because of the country’s unjust blasphemy laws. Pray for Pakistani Christians who have been attacked and for the families of those who have been killed because of false accusations of blasphemy.

United States
·         Please continue to pray for God’s healing touch to be upon 14-year-old Taylor* who is suffering from severe emotional issues. Pray for peace and comfort for this troubled young woman who has begun cutting herself and exhibiting other serious signs of mental illness. Pray she will respond to the new medication and continue with talk therapy. Pray for her relationships with her family and friends.
·         Pray God will sustain Taylor’s parents and continue to guide them as they deal with the challenges of a child experiencing a serious mental health crisis. Pray for a community of support around these parents who are so concerned about their daughter. Please pray God will provide clear direction for them in all the decisions they continue to make regarding Taylor’s care.
·         Pray God will protect the vulnerable hearts of Taylor’s sister and brother during this difficult season in their family. Please pray for healing within these fragile relationships.
