Prayer Concerns for the week of December 3, 2012

 Israel, Palestine
·         Please keep the children of Israel and Palestine held close in prayer during this season of violence. Pray for those who’ve been affected by the recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Pray for children who have been injured in this conflict. Pray for those who have lost family members and friends in this violence. Pray for children and families whose homes have been destroyed by rockets or airstrikes. http://tinyurl.com/azb83p2 (warning: disturbing images of children killed and injured in violence between Israel and Palestine)
·         Please pray for injured children whose photos are used as political tools by both sides to convince the international community how badly the other side is behaving. Pray for the families of these injured children as they seek medical care for them. Pray for families who see photos of their deceased children in the propaganda war being waged by both Israel and Palestine.
·         Pray for children who are taught to hate, who are desensitized to violence, who are encouraged to seek revenge. Pray for healing, reconciliation, and peace in this troubled area of the Middle East.

Russia, Uzbekistan
·         Please keep in prayer children, teenagers, and adults who are trafficked from their home countries into slavery in Russia. Pray for those who are promised work as shop assistants in Moscow, only to have their passports confiscated when they arrive at the workplace and find themselves enslaved. http://tinyurl.com/d72nwze
·         Pray for Leyla who was brought to Moscow from Uzbekistan when she was 16 and had been working without pay for the last ten years. Give thanks to God Leyla, her son, and nine other people were recently rescued by anti -trafficking activists. Leyla lived in fear of the violence inflicted upon her by the shop owner and her family and was afraid of the police who were bribed to return any runaway “shop slaves.”
·         Please keep Leyla’s 6-year-old son Bakhyr close in prayer as he adjusts to freedom, away from the basement mini market where he spent his entire life. Pray Leyla’s 5-year-old daughter Diana will be found—the shop owner took Diana away and told Leyla the child had died. And pray for the unborn child Leyla is carrying now. The father of Leyla’s children was a member of the shop owner’s family and regularly beat her.
·         Pray Leyla, her children, and the other rescued “slaves” will receive justice. The investigation into Leyla’s imprisonment has been closed.

United States
·         Please pray God’s healing touch will be upon 14-year-old Taylor* who has been experiencing serious emotional issues. Give thanks to God she is receiving professional treatment and seems to be responding to new medication and regular talk therapy. Thanks be to God Taylor has settled into her new school, making friends, and finding healthy outlets for her creativity through drama and art classes.
o   Pray for Taylor’s parents and siblings who struggle to cope with her explosive verbal outbursts at home, her radical mood changes, and her deep anger with every family member and herself.
o   Pray God will protect the vulnerable hearts of her sister and brother during this difficult season in their family. Please pray for healing within these fragile relationships.
o   Pray God will sustain Taylor’s parents and continue to guide them as they deal with the challenges of a child experiencing a serious mental health crisis.

Faces of Children
·         Please keep Face of Children prayer partner Gert Whipkey close in prayer as she mourns the loss of her husband Forrest who died very unexpectedly last June. Pray for their five adult children and spouses, as well as their nine grandchildren. Give thanks to God Gert and Forrest had the opportunity to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family in Georgia shortly before his death. Pray for God’s peace for this hurting family.
·         Give God thanks for a successful knee replacement surgery for Faces of Children intercessor Carol and pray for her complete recovery from this extensive surgery.
·         Please continue to pray that more churches and individuals will join with the ministry of Faces of Children in spreading awareness about children in crisis and inviting more people to pray for children at risk.
