Prayer Concerns for the week of December 10, 2012

China (New Day Foster Home – www.newdaycreations.com/foster/)
·         Give God thanks for the work of the staff, volunteers, and supporters of New Day Foster Home in providing a loving home for orphaned children with special needs. Pray God will give the staff and volunteers the strength and energy to care for babies and children with acute medical conditions.
·         Thanks be to God 9-month-old Anna Rose is doing better in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a local hospital and that she is off the ventilator now. Pray she will be released from the ICU soon and will continue to get stronger. http://tinyurl.com/d8ezwua
·         Please continue to pray for 6-month-old Annabel who is still in the ICU and battling a serious lung infection. Pray God will bring complete healing to this little one.  http://tinyurl.com/dxhfagm
·         Pray for all of the children at New Day Foster Home as many are sick with the flu. Pray for the seven children currently in the hospital and the additional three children that need daily intravenous fluid treatment. Pray the health and immune systems of each child will grow stronger.  http://tinyurl.com/b7b6lmf

Democratic Republic of Congo
·         Please keep the children in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) held close in prayer during a time of great violence and conflict. M23 rebels, an armed group thought to be backed by Rwanda, began fighting the Congolese army last April over conflict about terms of a previous peace agreement with the government.
·         Pray peace negotiations between rebels and the DRC government will be successful in halting the violence. Please pray for peace in this war-torn region.  http://tinyurl.com/d8frjpz
·         Pray for the estimated 200,000 children who are at risk of recruitment by armed groups, and who are also at risk of rape, hunger, and disease. Pray for children who become separated from their parents or families when fleeing the violence. Please pray for unaccompanied children who are at even greater risk of being forcibly recruited to fight rebels or government forces.  http://tinyurl.com/bnl8hmn
·         Pray for people displaced around Goma following a recent attack on that city by M23 rebels. Please keep the estimated 2.2 million internally displaced people (IDPs) of Congo in prayer as they struggle to survive in displacement camps. Pray for IDP children and families who are displaced over and over again because of increased violence in the region.
·         Please pray for the girls in this part of the DRC—sexual violence is rampant in eastern Congo, an area that hasn’t seen true peace since the end of the 1998-2003 war. Pray for girl children, most between the ages of eight and 17, who have been raped in this epidemic of sexual violence. Pray for their healing and safety.

United States
·         Pray God will keep Veronica*, a teenage girl living on a Native American reservation in northern Minnesota, safe from harm. Pray reservation authorities will protect Veronica and enforce the restraining order against her father who beats her and has threatened to kill her. Give God thanks for the teacher who noticed this abuse and intervened. Pray for Veronica’s father…that God will bring healing to this man and stop his violent behavior.

·         Please keep the four children of slain police officer Tom Decker close in prayer as they grieve their father’s death. Hold close in prayer 8-year-old Kelly, 7-year-old Jade, 6-year-old Justin, and 5-year-old Devon during this very difficult time in their young lives. The children’s father was killed last month in an ambush. Pray for God’s comforting presence for these hurting children as they enter the Christmas season without their father. Pray for their mother as she helps her children through the grieving process and as she mourns her ex-husband.  http://tinyurl.com/b8vhbjs

Faces of Children
·         Continue to keep 23-year-old Meaghan, the daughter of a Faces of Children intercessor, in prayer as she recovers from surgery for thyroid cancer. Pray her surgeons removed all trace of cancer and that she will heal completely. Please pray God will comfort Meaghan, her parents, and her brother throughout this frightening season.
·         Thanks and praise to God for the safe delivery of a healthy baby girl, Hayley Reese Starr, on November 28 for parents Elyse and Ryan Starr. Give God thanks for God’s comforting and calming presence throughout the delivery process. Please continue to pray for this little one, her parents, and grandparents—Chris and Jeff Laufer, and Lynn and Jim Starr—who are Faces of Children prayer partners.
