Prayer Concerns for the week of June 25, 2012

 Burma
·         Give God thanks for protecting two teenage sisters, ages 14 and 15, from a life of possible sexual exploitation. Pray they will be able to continue staying in the safe home for vulnerable young women in which they’ve been living the past three years. The sisters’ parents died when the girls were quite young so aunts and uncles took over their care until they were placed in this home. Thanks be to God that the sisters are coming to know the love of Jesus Christ since moving into the safe home.
·         Pray for the girls’ aunt who is demanding they be released to her so she can take them to Laos to work in a massage parlor and earn more money. The relatives are given a small monthly stipend to allow the sisters to stay in the safe home, but this one now wants more.
·         Please pray God will provide a way for the girls to remain safe from sexual exploitation—they need national ID cards and a safe place to hide from the aunt. Ethnic hill tribe people of Burma often have difficulty obtaining national ID cards because they can’t afford the cost and/or don’t have birth certificates or other documents.
·         Pray for the staff at the safe home who are in danger of being arrested for helping the sisters. Pray God will guide them in caring for the vulnerable young women who live at the home. Pray for God’s help in developing safe and  honorable ways in which these young women may earn a living and help their family members and themselves.

Thailand
·         Pray for the staff and volunteers with the Mae Kha Chan Children’s Home in Thailand as they care for 90 additional children, bringing the total number to 150. The director shared that suddenly they were finding orphans in villages and discovering others left on the door step of the home. Please pray that God will provide the resources needed to care for all 150 of these children.
·         Give God thanks for Mae Kha Chan’s partnership with three nearby villages in feeding and caring for these new children. Pray for the 90 children as they adjust to their new living circumstances. Thanks be to God that the village leaders are allowing the children and helpers to sleep in a church near the school that serves these villages.
·         And praise God that the village leaders have asked Mae Kha Chan’s director to help make the villages’ school a Christian one since the government recently withdrew funding. Give thanks to God that all of the Mae Kha Chan children will be able to attend this Christian school instead of their previous one in which they were forced to bow before Buddhist idols

Vietnam
·         Please keep in prayer the missionaries and all those helping to build a church in a poor ethnic hill tribe community in Vietnam. Give God thanks for providing the vision, materials, and help to build this tribal church. Pray that the church builders will find favor with the local police who have come to examine the construction.
·         Pray also for the very sick 2-month-old daughter of the new church’s pastor. Pray God will bring healing to her body and that she will make a complete recovery. Pray for her mother as she cares for this baby girl who is hospitalized in another town. Pray for her father as he tends to his fields and watches over the church’s construction.

United States
·         Give thanks to God for occupational therapists like Beth Schaible, with Kids Infant Development Program (KIDS) of North Dakota, who bring such passion and love to their work with children with special needs. Thanks be to God for early-intervention programs like KIDS that provide free, home-based, family-focused services for young children with special needs. http://tinyurl.com/77bdwkk
·         Pray for 17-month-old Rowan who was diagnosed with X-linked lissencephaly, a genetic condition of abnormal brain development, and who will require long-term special assistance because of his condition. Thanks be to God for Beth and the compassionate, loving way in which she works with Rowan to help him develop his strengths. Pray for Rowan’s parents and 3-year-old sister Lily who also need emotional and educational support as Rowan’s cognitive ability probably won’t ever exceed that of a 3-month-old. http://tinyurl.com/765h7w4

Faces of Children
·         Please continue to pray that more churches and individuals will join with the ministry of Faces of Children in spreading awareness about children in crisis and inviting more people to pray for children at risk.
