Libya
· Please pray for the 500,000 residents of the port city of Misurata who have been under siege for almost two months. Pray for children and families who are caught in fighting between forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi and a small rebel force. Pray for those whose homes and neighborhoods have been destroyed by artillery or mortar fire. Pray for peace and for justice for the children of Libya.
· Pray for parents trying to find food and supplies to help their children. Bread and gasoline lines are long; sewage has gotten into the water system; most of the city lacks electricity except for generators; and cell phone service has been cut hampering communication with the outside world. http://tinyurl.com/3rhg4js
Mexico, United States, Central America
· Please keep the Presbyterian Pan American high school students from Mexico held close in prayer. Many of them are in great danger when they travel back forth to their homes in Mexico because of the escalating drug cartel violence. http://www.ppas.org/
o Pray for those who are so fearful they can’t sleep, have anxiety attacks, and cry frequently. Pray for those who feel great guilt at being safe in the United States while their families are in danger in Mexico.
o Pray for students whose families have had encounters with cartel violence. Pray for those who have had parents and siblings kidnapped, followed, threatened, car jacked, robbed, assaulted, targeted for recruitment, or killed.
o Pray for the families of these students…that God will provide for them and keep them safe.
· Pray for the children and people of Mexico and along the Texas/Mexico border who are affected by the drug cartel violence in this region. Over the past four years, an estimated 35,000 people have been killed and thousands more have disappeared.http://tinyurl.com/4xlgoqf
o Pray for the families of the victims found in 34 grave sites at isolated ranches near San Fernando in the Mexican border state of Tamaulipas. Pray for those whose loved ones were passengers dragged off buses at drug cartel road blocks, murdered, and then thrown into mass graves. Pray for the families of Mexican and Central American migrants who were bludgeoned to death by drug cartel members.
o Please pray that the victims of these brutal murders will be identified—most had all identification removed from their bodies before being buried. Pray that their families will experience God’s comforting peace in this time of sadness, uncertainty, and terror.
o Pray for the children and people of Miguel Aleman, a small border town across the river from Roma, Texas, who were attacked by cartel gunmen late last month. The attackers tossed grenades, burned down businesses, and shot at vehicles.
o Give thanks to God for the arrest of 76 suspects, including a drug cartel boss, a police chief, and 16 police officers. Pray for those who derive pleasure from violence and for those who are consumed and driven by greed. Pray that God’s justice will rain down on all those guilty of murder. Pray for peace in this country.
o Pray for the healing of those addicted to drugs—for an end to the fuel that propels the huge machinery of drug trafficking.
United States
· Give God thanks and praise for answering prayers about 2-year-old Tia*, a little girl born with severe facial deformities! Tia arrived in the United States on Good Friday and is now a U.S. citizen and the legally adopted daughter of Cindy, a single mother of four internationally adopted children.
o Pray that God will continue to guide Cindy and sustain her in this important work.
o Pray that Tia will adjust smoothly to life in her new home with her four new siblings.
· Please keep the children of seasonal and migrant farm workers in this country held close in prayer. Many fall behind in school or attend intermittently because their families follow the crops during harvest season.
o Pray for those who are near the poverty level, have parents with little or no formal education, and for those who live in neighborhoods with rampant gang violence.
