Prayer Requests for April 25, 2011

Kenya

· Please pray for a teenage mother in Kenya who was rejected by her father and stepmother, then kicked out by a man who made her pregnant. Pray that this young mother will be able to raise her baby boy well. Give God thanks that they have been housed by a sympathetic neighbor. Pray for this little boy, that God will provide everything he needs to grow into a strong and healthy child.

Thailand

· Pray that God will guide the staff and volunteers with GROW Ministry in Thailand as they choose which child, from the hundreds of children in need, will come to live in the new home. Pray God will bless them with discernment as they make this decision.

United States

· Please keep in prayer the family and friends of Hayden, a college student who committed suicide several weeks ago. Pray that God’s comforting presence will surround Hayden’s parents, siblings, grandparents, extended family, and friends during their season of sorrow and loss.

· Pray for the children and people of Texas who are dealing with widespread wildfires made worse by extensive drought. The Texas Forest Service says the conditions this spring are the driest in Texas since 1917. Pray for those who have lost family members, homes, ranches, livestock, pets, and businesses. http://tinyurl.com/3h5xheq

o Pray for the emergency response teams struggling to put the acres-wide fires out. Authorities have responded to more than 7,800 fires across 1.5 million acres in all but two of the state’s 254 counties this spring. Pray conditions will improve and that relief would literally rain down—some areas haven’t seen rain in more than six months. http://tinyurl.com/3jas8ex http://tinyurl.com/3v4d79f

· Continue to keep 11-year-old Dallas and his mother Betty* held close in prayer as they struggle to overcome recent setbacks. Betty’s boyfriend and his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren finally moved out of Betty’s house after taking advantage of her for many months.

o Please pray that Betty will continue to stay sober, even though the drama and resulting emotional problems caused her to lose her fulltime job. Give thanks to God that Betty’s part time work has turned fulltime and allows her to better care for Dallas. Pray that Betty will make better choices for herself and Dallas in the future.

o Please continue to pray for Dallas, who also suffered emotional problems because of this situation and was hospitalized in a psychiatric facility last year.

o Thanks be to God that Betty’s oldest son Andrew, who is in prison, recently received his high school diploma (GED).

· Please pray for the families of 17-year-old Dylan Cox and 16-year-old Tabitha Belmonte who are mourning the murder/suicide deaths of their children and struggling to determine custody of Dylan and Tabitha’s 8-month-old daughter Emma. Pray for healing and peace for both families and for the friends of these teenagers. Pray for a community of support to surround these hurting families. Pray that God will provide for baby Emma and that she will be placed in the best possible custody situation for her at this time in her young life. http://tinyurl.com/3c4czlc http://tinyurl.com/3gymsqz

Faces of Children

· Please keep Abby Grace, the 5-year-old daughter of a Faces of Children prayer partner, held close in prayer during her tonsillectomy and dental surgery later this month. Pray for God’s healing grace on this little girl and her family. Her father recently had surgery as well.

· Pray for 14-year-old Elise, 11-year-old Dru, 7-year-old Dylan, and their mother—church friends of a Faces of Children intercessor—during a very difficult time in their lives. Donnie, father of these three children and wife of Liz, was found murdered in the driveway outside their suburban Houston home on April 11. Pray that God will bring peace and comfort to these hurting children and their mother, as well as to their church family, friends, and community. Pray for justice for this father, husband, son, grandson, friend, neighbor, and colleague. http://www.click2houston.com/news/27524033/detail.html
