Prayer Requests for May 23, 2011

Haiti

  • Pray for the tens of thousands of children living in Haiti’s temporary camps who are vulnerable to traffickers. Pray for those forced into prostitution or those who are adopted illegally. Pray for families who are tricked into selling their children. Pray for parents who are told their children will have a better life, but instead are trafficked into prostitution or illegally adopted by well meaning Europeans. Please pray that the Haitian government will introduce and enforce laws that make the trafficking of children illegal. http://urbannewspost.com/?p=933

Japan, United States

  • Please continue to keep close in prayer the children of Japan who have been affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, as well as the nuclear power plant radiation leaks. Pray for God’s comforting peace to surround those who are still very fearful and anxious. Pray for those who are grieving the loss of loved ones, friends, neighbors, homes, schools, communities, and former lives. Pray for God’s provision for all those in need.
  • Keep 8-year-old Kayla and her 6-year-old brother Aidan in prayer as they live apart from their parents. Kayla and Aidan’s parents sent them to live with relatives in the United States while they remained in Japan for work. Pray that these little ones are able to settle into routines in their new school and home in the U.S. Pray that God will comfort them as they worry about their parents back in Japan and are anxious to be reunited with them. http://tinyurl.com/3b88uty

Kenya

  • Give thanks to God for the work of the staff and volunteers at Naomi’s Village and their compassion for the suffering and abandoned children of Kenya. Please pray that God will give them wisdom as they identify the next group of children to enter Naomi’s Village. Pray that God will lead them to the six girls and four boys whom God desires to live at the home—there are so very many children in need. http://tinyurl.com/3odrpax

Sudan

  • Pray for the children of Sudan who are affected by fighting in the western Darfur region. Pray for the more than 70,000 people who have fled fighting there and sought refuge in overcrowded camps like Zam Zam near Darfur’s capital. Please pray for children in this huge camp that now hosts an estimated 160,000 people. Pray that God will provide the resources needed to care for them as the influx of so many people has strained the basic services available. http://tinyurl.com/3vyepgx
  • Please pray for an end to the violence between non-Arab rebels and Sudanese government troops (backed by Arab militias) that has been going on for almost eight years. The U.N. estimates as many as 300,000 people have died due to the humanitarian crisis there.

Thailand (NightLight – http://www.nightlightinternational.com/)

  • Pray that God will bring healing to Jan*, a woman in the NightLight Design program who is pregnant and has advanced tuberculosis. Pray that she will be able to get into the best hospital for the treatment of this disease—it’s begun to affect her brain, vision, and awareness. Jan was refused service at one hospital and is at another one that isn’t very good. Pray for the baby that this young Christian woman is carrying and for her husband and mother who are not Christians. Please pray that Jan’s husband and mother might experience the saving love of Jesus Christ even in the midst of this difficult situation. Pray also for Jan’s 8-year-old son who lives with his father. http://nightlightinternational.com/store/
  • Please keep the staff and volunteers with NightLight held close in prayer during an especially difficult and dangerous time. Pray for them as they reach out to young Uzbek women who have been trafficked into prostitution. Pray for the volunteers and staff as they encounter the anger, intimidation, and threats of the traffickers. http://tinyurl.com/6x5flsr
