Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)
- Please keep the girls and women of the eastern part of this country in prayer as they cope with an epidemic of sexual violence against them.
- Pray for those who have been affected by this dreadful form of violence. Human Rights Watch states that in June more than 2200 cases of rape were recorded in North Kivu province.
- Pray for the 150,000 adults, youth and children who have been displaced because of current violence against civilians. Pray for the one million people who were displaced by previous violence in North and South Kivu. Violence continues to plague the eastern part of the DRC despite the fact that 22 armed groups and the Congolese government promised to end abuse against the civilian population by signing a peace agreement last January.
- Pray that all armed groups and the Congolese army will honor the peace agreement they signed and halt violence against girls and women as well as the rest of the civilian population. Uganda
- Please pray for the children and youth of Northern Uganda who have been affected by the war in this area. Give thanks to God that the area is much safer now and that many people and organizations are working there for the benefit of children and youth.
- Pray for the emotional, physical and spiritual healing of all victims of Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). Pray that these victims can be reconciled with the people of their towns and villages. Please pray that God will provide them with the opportunities and tools to learn life skills and an education.
- Please be in prayer for those who work hard to provide counseling, educational programs, vocational training and income generating projects for the young victims of this long and deadly conflict.
- Keep Pastor Sammy and Pastor Mubbi in prayer as they seek God’s guidance in the work they are doing with affected youth in this area. Pray that God will provide for their needs and sustain them in this effort.
United States
- Pray for children, parents, teachers, and other school personnel as the school year begins again for most of this country. Pray for children here and around the world who are unable to attend school because: they are ill, neglected, too poor to afford the fees, discriminated against because of gender; they must work to support their families; or there are a lack of schools in their communities.
