Brazil (180 Degree Alliance, United Global Action with Street Children – http://www.180degreesalliance.org/index.htm)
- Pray for children living and working on the streets of Recife. This city of more than 3.6 million people is developing into a major hub for child sex tourism in Brazil. In 2004, it was estimated that this country had 500,000 children involved in prostitution. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3879001.stm
- Please pray for Flora and others who serve the children of the streets in Brazil and the Philippines through 180 Degree Alliance.
Ghana
- Pray for the orphans and caregivers of Eban House, an orphanage in Ghana that was attacked late last month. In addition to stealing money and computers (containing all the orphanages’ financial records), the attackers repeatedly raped a caregiver in front of two children.
- Pray that God will bring physical and emotional healing to the caregiver, Elizabeth*, a young wife and mother. Pray that Elizabeth’s husband won’t follow Ghana custom and divorce her. Pray that his love for Elizabeth will be strong enough to enable him to support his wife and defy tradition. Pray for their children. *Name changed for confidentiality and/or protection.
- Pray that God will comfort the two small children who witnessed the brutal attack on Elizabeth. Please pray for all of the children who have been traumatized by this attack and who are feeling very insecure and afraid.
- Pray that God will provide for all of the children and staff of Eban House and sustain them throughout this ordeal.
United States
- Give thanks to God for answered prayers regarding 1-year-old Emelyn and her father. Last month, her mother died of an aggressive form of cancer and her father lost his job. God has provided Emelyn’s father with a job and friends have offered free child care for her. Emelyn’s father is a man of God and is leaning heavily on God’s grace during their season of sorrow. Please continue to keep this grieving family in prayer.
- Please be in prayer for 10-year-old John, 12-year-old Megan, their older siblings and their parents during this very difficult time. Pray that God will comfort and heal their mother, whose cancer has moved to her head. Pray that God’s peace will bring comfort to these children during this frightening and uncertain time in their lives.
- Pray that God’s healing hand would bless 2-month-old Ammonie who is recovering from major intestinal surgery. Pray for Ammonie’s family as they care for this sick little girl.
