Prayer Concerns for the week of January 7, 2013

Burma
·         Please pray for the Kachin ethnic hill tribe people of northern Burma who continue to be targeted by the Burma military. A new and more intense campaign of shelling and bombing began earlier this month with the Burma military using attack helicopters and fighter jets. Pray for Kachin children and families trying to escape the most intense attacks since the Burma military began its campaign against the Kachin last year.
·         Pray for the estimated 100,000 Kachin who have been displaced in the violence that has destroyed homes, villages, and towns. Pray for those who are in desperate need of a safe place to stay, food, clothing, medical care, and protection. Pray for children, youth, and adults who have been injured in the bombings.
·         Give thanks to God for the work of the Free Burma Rangers (FBR) relief teams and other relief organizations serving the Kachin in their time of need. Pray God will protect these volunteers who risk their lives to serve the ethnic hill tribe people of Burma. Please pray for peace and reconciliation between the Burma government and the Kachin. http://tinyurl.com/a7nde4c   http://tinyurl.com/bxjy4a6

Kenya
·         Please keep in prayer the 52 orphans who live at the Magnet Children’s Home in Nairobi, Kenya. Pray for their health and well-being and give God thanks these children from ages 3 to 13 are able to attend school at the Magnet home. Pray for the staff and volunteers at this home as they care for so many children in need. Pray God will sustain them in their daily work and give them encouragement. Give thanks to God for the generosity of Watch and Pray Ministry in providing uniforms and food for the children of this home.
·         Pray for the estimated 515 orphans who attend a preparatory school in Nairobi’s second largest slum. Give thanks to God the founder of this school, a teacher herself, answered God’s call to begin a school in this slum area where children had little or no access to education. Pray God will provide additional resources for this school as the classrooms are very overcrowded and the school has no running water or proper sanitary facilities. Pray for the teachers and staff of this school as they struggle to meet the educational needs of so many children. Thanks be to God for Watch and Pray Ministry’s generosity in providing uniforms for all the children who attend this school.

Pray for those who don’t have access to information or assistance in the cases about their children. Pray each family might have closure. More than 7,000 bodies lie unidentified in morgue freezers or common graves.
·         Please pray for peace and healing in the hearts of those who grieve. Pray for the healing of this country and for an end to the violence.

Faces of Children
  • Please pray for one month old Roland Garcia III, the nephew of a Faces of Children intercessor. Roland was recently diagnosed with Fatty Acid Oxidation Disorder, a genetic metabolic deficiency that keeps the body from breaking down fatty acids to make energy. Pray Roland will grow and thrive now that he has received an accurate diagnosis. Pray for his parents and family as they learn how to care for a little boy with this incurable, but treatable condition.  http://www.fodsupport.org/list.htm
  • Please continue to pray that more churches and individuals will join with the ministry of Faces of Children in spreading awareness about children in crisis and inviting more people to pray for children at risk.
