Prayer Concerns for the week of October 29, 2012

Pakistan
·         Give God thanks for answering prayer about 11-year-old Rimshah Masih who was recently released from a Pakistani prison where she had been jailed for three weeks on charges of blasphemy. Pray Rimshah (who has Down’s syndrome) and her family will be safe from further persecution now that she is out of prison.
·         Pray the truth will come to light and that Rimshah will receive justice. Rimshah, whose family is Christian, was accused of burning pages from the Koran by neighbors in her predominately Muslim neighborhood.
·         Pray for those who accused this mentally disabled girl of blasphemy.
·         Pray for the Christian community in Rimshah’s neighborhood. Because of this blasphemy charge and arrest, the 600 Pakistani Christians in this neighborhood, including Rimshah’s family, were forced to leave. Pray God will provide a new community for these families in which they will be able to worship God in peace, go to school, and work in jobs that pay a living wage.

United States
·         Thanks be to God for continuing to answer prayer about 3-year-old Landon who recently had surgery for tethered spinal cord syndrome, a neurological disorder where the movement of the spinal cord within the spinal column is limited. http://tinyurl.com/cblzvp
o   Praise God the severe headaches, high fevers, and vomiting Landon was experiencing after the surgery have gone away and that he was able to leave the hospital.
o   Pray for his continued healing and pray for his parents and siblings who are very weary from the experience. http://tinyurl.com/9gtljpu
·         Pray for all children who have been hospitalized for illness or treatment. Pray they receive competent and compassionate medical care while they are in the hospital. Pray for the medical and hospital staff these children encounter every day. And keep the parents of hospitalized children held close in prayer as they make decisions about medical care and deal with the high costs of that care.
·         Please pray for homeless families who are turned away from shelters because they are too full. Pray for parents and children who end up sleeping in cars, parks, and bus and train stations because local shelters can’t take them.
·         Pray for families facing homelessness—many are still reeling from the effects of the economic crisis in the U.S. or from the lack of affordable housing.
·         Pray for the young family—a mother and her toddler and 2-month-old baby—who were sleeping in a metro train station because there wasn’t room in the local homeless shelter for families. Give thanks to God a Good Samaritan provided this struggling family with temporary housing and assistance in finding a more permanent situation. http://tinyurl.com/9ywyrpm
·         Pray for the young family—a mother and her three children—who slept on the steps of a church in the Washington, D.C. area because they had nowhere else to go.
·         Please keep in prayer three young children who were found living in a garage without running water. The home to which the garage was attached and where the children would bath was filled with dozens of animals (50 cats, five dogs, chickens, birds, rabbits, ducks, geese, and a snake) and reeked of urine and feces.
o   Pray for these children—two girls, 3 and 4 years old, and a 7-year-old boy—who lived in such an unsafe, unsanitary environment.
o   Pray for their father/step-father who was arrested on charges of child neglect.
o   Please pray the children will grow up in a safer, healthier living situation where they will be given the love and attention every child deserves. http://tinyurl.com/8u3cxzu
