Prayer Concerns for the week of October 15, 2012

Mali, Chad
·         Give God thanks that the number of new cases of malaria among children has dropped by two-thirds in Mali and 86 percent in Chad. Thanks be to God for the Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) large-scale malaria prevention project that’s drastically reduced the number of cases in the 175,000 children targeted in these two West African countries where malaria is a leading killer. http://tinyurl.com/98xv7vf   http://tinyurl.com/94qqa28
·         Pray parents will be vigilant about protecting their children during the peak malaria season and use all methods of prevention including bed nets and spraying.
·         Pray for children who contract this disease—young children who get malaria are very vulnerable to death because of their weaker immunity. Pray medical care is available to each child in need.
·         Please pray the respective government ministries of health in Chad and Mali will follow through with this program after MSF hands it over in a few years.

United States
·         Pray for 2-year-old Maddox who was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes (type 1 diabetes) when he was an infant. Pray for his parents as they provide the day-to-day care this disease requires and deal with the psychological, emotional, and social challenges it presents. Pray for a community of support around this family.
·         Please pray for a cure for this disease and give thanks to God for the medical advances being made to help children and teenagers with type 1 diabetes. http://tinyurl.com/9y9rvae
·         Pray for all children and youth who have type 1 diabetes. Please pray for 16-year-old Andrew and his younger sister Rachel who also have juvenile diabetes and deal with the everyday challenges of maintaining normal blood sugar levels.

United States, China
·         Give God thanks for answering prayers about 3-year-old Landon who was suffering severe headaches, high fevers, and vomiting several weeks after he had surgery to de-tether his spinal cord. Tethered spinal cord syndrome is a neurological disorder caused by tissue attachments that limit the movement of the spinal cord within the spinal column. http://tinyurl.com/cblzvp   http://tinyurl.com/9m57wwa
·         Thanks be to God Landon’s test results indicate his white blood cell count and inflammatory levels are normalizing! Landon’s doctors were concerned he might have bacterial or inflammatory meningitis. http://tinyurl.com/8dsw76n
·         Please continue in prayer for this little boy who was abandoned at the local bus station in his home country on the day he was born. Give thanks to God for the staff and volunteers at New Day Foster Home where Landon was placed and through which he received treatment for a clubbed foot and spina bifida. http://tinyurl.com/8wqmrs6
·         Praise God for Landon’s recent adoption! Pray for his adoptive parents as they negotiate the medical maze of treatment for their little boy. http://tinyurl.com/8jphlsv

Faces of Children
·         Please continue to lift in prayer Pamela, the sister of a Faces of Children prayer partner, and her family as she grows weaker from the cancer spreading through her body. Give thanks her brother was able to be visit her.
·         Thanks be to God 5-year-old Anna, the niece of a Faces of Children intercessor, had her thigh-high cast removed recently and got a walking cast. Anna had surgery to correct a club foot and was in the large cast six weeks.
·         Give God thanks for the new opportunities to share the ministry of Faces of Children! Please pray for Faces prayer partner Bethann as she prepares to share the prayer prompt bead project with the children of her church in California. Continue to pray for Faces prayer partners Marci and Diane as they prepare to introduce the ministry of Faces of Children to their congregation in Maine on Children’s Sabbath, October 21, 2012. Pray God will be at work in the hearts of those who participate in this service and be moved to pray for children.
·

·         Give thanks to God for the life of 11-year-old Andrew who died late last week. Andrew was shot twice in the head and once in the chest by his father who then committed suicide. Pray for Andrew’s older brother Billy, the close friend of a Faces of Children prayer partner, as he struggles with this devastating situation and questions the presence of God. Pray Billy will experience God’s presence through an outpouring of love, compassion, and comfort from those around him. http://tinyurl.com/9zpuuy4  http://djournal.com/view/full_story/20481308/privacy_policy
