Please keep the
118,000 internally displaced children and people of Mali close in prayer during
a very challenging time in their country. A food crisis throughout the Sahel
region and fighting in northern Mali has uprooted hundreds of thousands of
people.

Pray for those
who face severe food shortages and lack access to health care and the basic
necessities of life.
·
Pray for women
and girls who have been abducted by gunmen, taken away for days, and then
returned to their families after being gang-raped or beaten.
·
Please pray for peace
in this troubled region. A military coup in March left a power vacuum enabling
Tuareg rebels to take over nearly two-thirds of Mali. In the northern part of

Give thanks to
God for the advocacy work of 14-year-old Malala Yousufzai who has campaigned
for the rights of girls to attend school since she was 11 years old. Pray for Malala’s
healing and complete recovery following an assassination attempt last week.

Thanks be to God
Pakistani doctors were able to remove a bullet that was lodged in Malala’s neck
and that she is now in Britain receiving specialized treatment. Pray for her
complete healing and recovery. She will need to have the bones in her skull repaired

Pray for the healing
and safety of the two other girls who were wounded in the shooting.

And keep Malala’s
family in prayer as they follow her medical care from long distance. Pray for
their safety and that God will comfort them during this season of uncertainty
and fear.

Give God thanks
for the outpouring of support for Malala from men, women, and children at
rallies in Karachi and Islamabad.

Pray for
Pakistan’s girl children who are kept from attending school by Taliban death threats
and intimidation. Pray all girls will have better access to education and will
be able to attend school in safety.

Please keep in
prayer a 13-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted at a party allegedly by a
19-year-old man who contacted her on Facebook, a social networking site. Pray
for parents who are unaware of their children’s online activities and
connections—pray for raised awareness and involvement on their part. Pray for
girls and boys who try to make their online persona appear more mature or

Pray for
6-year-old Caleb who is suffering severe asthma attacks and may need to be
hospitalized soon to get them under control. Pray for his young mom who is not
getting much sleep as she cares for Caleb throughout the night and day.

Please keep
4-year-old Cynthia in prayer as she recovers from an intestinal flu. Pray for
her mother who very concerned about Cynthia’s health.

Children intercessor Rosemary Mumford and her family in this season of grief
and loss following the death of Rosemary’s mother. Pray for God’s comforting
presence as they make preparations for the memorial service and celebrate the
life of this beloved woman.

mourn the death of Jim’s sister Pamela who died last week. Thanks be to God for
the life of this much-loved woman.

Give God thanks
for the life of 11-year-old Andrew who died after being shot twice in the head
and once in the chest by his father who then committed suicide. Pray for
Andrew’s older brother Billy, the close friend of a Faces of Children prayer
partner, as he struggles with this devastating situation and questions the existence
of God. Pray Billy will experience God’s presence through an outpouring of

parents and caregivers who suffer from severe depression. Please pray God will
