Prayer Concerns for the week of September 17, 2012

Kenya
·         Please keep the disabled children receiving treatment at the CURE International Hospital in Kenya held close in prayer. Pray especially for 12-year-old Alice and 11-year-old Emmanuel.

Pakistan
·         Please keep 11-year-old Rimshah Masih, who has Down’s syndrome, and her family held close in prayer during this very difficult and dangerous time. Rimshah, a little girl from a Christian family, was accused of burning pages from the Koran by neighbors in her predominately Muslim neighborhood and arrested along with her mother. http://tinyurl.com/95q7axx
·         Give thanks to God Rimshah was recently allowed bail in this case. Pray for her safety while she is in police custody and please pray she will be released soon. http://tinyurl.com/9qjewc9
·         Pray for justice in this case and that the false accusations against Rimshah will be dropped. Pray they will find a safe place to live when they are released, away from the threats and danger.
·         Pray for the Christian community in Rimshah’s neighborhood. Because of this blasphemy charge and arrest, the 600 Pakistani Christians in this neighborhood, including Rimshah’s father, have been given one month to leave or they will be forced out. Pray God will provide a new community for these families in which they will be able to worship God in peace, go to school, and work in jobs that pay a living wage.  http://tinyurl.com/cqojl8r

United States
·         Continue to keep in prayer Jesika, Hunter, and River as they grieve the death of their father Koby who died suddenly several months ago. Pray for Koby’s young widow Savannah and the baby boy she will deliver by Cesarean section this week. Give God thanks for providing a community of love and support around this family. Pray God will provide for Savannah and these children as they face an uncertain future without Koby.
·         Please continue in prayer for children living on the Spirit Lake Reservation in North Dakota. Pray for their safety and protection from physical, emotional, and sexual abuse during a time when the Sioux tribe’s child safety and program compliance doesn’t seem very effective. http://tinyurl.com/8q4nlta   http://www.spiritlakenation.com/
o   Pray the recent visit of senior officials from the U.S. Department of the Interior, including the director of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, will help improve child safety and protection on the reservation.
o   Pray for strong, courageous leaders to come forward in the tribe to protect the children living at Spirit Lake Reservation. Pray tribal social workers will receive the education and training they need to protect children in this community.
·         Pray for all children who are neglected or abused by parents or caregivers under the influence of alcohol, prescription drugs, or illegal substances. Pray for the safety, protection, and healing of these vulnerable children.
o   Pray for adults and teens who prey upon children in their care or in their spheres of influence.
o   Pray for communities in which neglect as well as physical, sexual, and emotional child abuse is rampant. Pray God will call qualified and compassionate adults in these communities to work with children— especially children who are abused or neglected.
o   Please pray God will move in the hearts of those who condone or ignore situations in which children are uncared for or mistreated. Pray for an effective system of accountability and transparency for agencies and adults working with children.
o   Pray God will be at work in healing these communities so children might grow up safely and to their full potential.
·         Pray Tyler and Ashley will seek God’s guidance as they make some very difficult medical decisions about their unborn baby. At a recent ultrasound, doctors discovered that their baby boy has spina bifida. Pray for comfort and wisdom during this challenging season. Pray for God’s healing touch upon this baby. http://tinyurl.com/8qcdx8m

Faces of Children
·         Continue to keep 13-year-old Brady, the nephew of a Faces of Children prayer partner, and his family close in prayer as they make some difficult decisions about Brady’s medical care in the very near future. Brady has had eight surgeries, two of them being open heart surgeries, in his young life. Because of complications in the first heart surgery, Brady has blockages in a major artery and vein and those have affected the growth of his right leg. Pray that God will give his parents and physicians clear direction on what to do about this complicated condition.
