Prayer Concerns for the week of May 21, 2012

 Burma, United States
·         Keep Nancy* close in prayer as she travels throughout the United States sharing the ministry with which she is involved and into which God has called her. Pray God will provide the support and resources Nancy needs to care for the 11 children in the Hallelujah Orphanage she established in her home in Burma. Give thanks to God for Nancy’s parents, sisters, and brother who also help her care for these vulnerable children.
·         Pray God will comfort and bring healing to the children (ranging in age from 9 to 18) who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect at the hands of their parents or former caregivers. Thanks be to God for the loving family environment in which they now live.

China
·         Please pray for the ethnic Tibetan children and families who are still living in tents two years after a 6.9 magnitude earthquake devastated their community in China’s northwestern Qinghai province.
·         Pray for families who have pitched tents alongside their damaged homes and live amidst the earthquake rubble without running water or reliable electricity. http://tinyurl.com/7hkp2yu
·         Pray for the 600 ethnic Tibetans who are being forced to relocate from their property by the Chinese government. Many government structures were rebuilt, but residential areas were razed in order to build an “ecological tourism center.” Pray that God’s truth and justice will prevail in this situation of alleged discrimination.
·         Pray for the nomadic herders and families, also ethnic Tibetans, who were forced to resettle after the April 14, 2010 earthquake. Please pray they will receive justice for having their grazing land seized by the government. Keep the children and families close in prayer as they struggle to adjust to life outside their nomadic experience.

North Korea
·         Pray for children and people who are held in North Korea’s six labor camps for years, some even for entire lifetimes. Pray for those who are detained because they are related to people who are considered enemies of the North Korean government. http://tinyurl.com/88vupu2
·         Pray for children who are raised to know nothing of the outside world in these camps that are complete control districts where hard labor, starvation, brutality, and early deaths are commonplace.
·         Pray for children who are raised by teachers/armed prison guards in uniforms. Pray for children who know no other life but one of deprivation, fear, torture, and misery in these massive labor camps that are estimated to contain up to 200,000 people.
·         Pray for the safety and wellbeing of those held in these labor camps. Pray for an end to these camps which are used by the totalitarian state as instruments of terror designed to keep the country’s population under control.

Syria
·         Continue to keep the children and people of Syria close in prayer as hundreds of thousands struggle to find enough to eat. Pray for those whose access to food has been cut off by violence, security forces, high prices, or disruption of the country’s infrastructure.  http://tinyurl.com/6qfnexz
·         Pray for families who have had their stores of food intentionally destroyed or damaged by security forces. Pray for those who have lost livelihoods because of the violence and have no money with which to buy food. Pray for those who cannot afford the increasingly high costs of food because of transportation difficulties…dangerous routes, fuel shortages, security checkpoints, and damaged roads.
·         Pray for the 200,000 people who have been displaced inside Syria because of the violence between government and opposition forces. Please pray for a just and peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Faces of Children
·         Give God thanks that Hollis, the 2-month-old granddaughter of a Faces of Children prayer partner, is doing much better and was able to leave the hospital. Hollis fell from her changing table and suffered bruising in her brain.  Please pray that the injury heals completely and doesn’t cause any permanent damage.
  • Continue to pray that more churches and individuals will join with the ministry of Faces of Children in spreading awareness about children in crisis and inviting more people to pray for children at risk.
