Prayer Requests for November 29, 2010

Burma

  • Pray for the children and people of Burma who are trying to escape fighting along the Thai and Burma border following the country’s national elections. Pray for the estimated 20,000 people who have been displaced by fighting between the Burma Army and a former proxy militia of that army. Pray for the safety of these displaced ethnic hill tribe people as they run from the fighting between these two warring factions.

  • Give thanks to God for the release of Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma’s pro-democracy leader and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate after being detained for years. Aung San Suu Kyi has spent 15 of the last 21 years under house arrest. Pray that God will guide her as she serves the people who look to her for leadership. Haiti

  • Please continue to pray for the children and people of Haiti who are facing the spread of cholera into heavily populated areas, including the capital, Port-au-prince. Pray for those who have lost family members and friends to this quick killing disease.
  • Pray that the 1.3 million earthquake survivors still living in tent and tarpaulin camps in Port-au-Prince will be protected from this cholera epidemic. Pray for adequate treatment centers to be set up around the affected areas.
  • Pray that sufficient resources like soap and water purification tablets will be available, as well as country-wide public safety education about hygiene.

Honduras (CURE International – www.helpcurenow.org) Honduras

· Pray for the disabled children receiving treatment at the CURE International Hospital in Honduras and for the medical staff and caregivers there. Also pray for two 11-year-olds, a boy named Cesar and a girl named Zenaida.

United States

  • Please keep the family and friends of 16-year-old Cassidy Joy Andel held close in prayer following her death earlier this month. The North Dakota teen may have taken her own life because of online and text message bullying. Pray for the students in Cassidy’s school and for those in the small community in which she lived.   • Pray for other children and young people who find themselves the target of bullying. Pray they will seek help and that they will receive it from those who are equipped to provide assistance and intervention.   • Please pray for adoptive parents and others who struggle to raise children with serious mental and physical challenges caused by the birth mother’s consumption of alcohol during pregnancy. Pray for children who have brain damage caused by maternal substance abuse during pregnancy and/or physical or emotional abuse, abandonment, or neglect.
    • Pray for children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
    • Pray for a strong support system for children with these mental and physical health issues—without the proper care and intervention, many children will be written off as problem children and hopeless cases.
