Prayer requests for March 8, 2010

Cambodia (Cambodian Hope Organization – www.cambodianhopeorganization.org)

  • Give thanks to God for Cambodian Hope Organization’s (CHO) acquisition of a building for the Hope Transformation Centre, a facility designated for the rehabilitation of prostituted or trafficked young girls. Pray that God will continue to provide the necessary resources to renovate this building and begin the program.
  • Pray for the girls God will lead to the Hope Transformation Centre—that they may be receptive to this kind of help and support and that they will benefit from it. Pray for the people God will call to work here—that they will be qualified, compassionate, and reveal the love of Jesus Christ in their actions and words.
  • Pray for the leaders and volunteers with CHO as they work with children and families in disadvantaged rural communities throughout Cambodia. Thank God for CHO’s HIV/AIDS awareness and preventative programs.
  • Praise God for CHO’s successful health training workshop for prostituted women and brothel owners in Poipet City. Pray for the physical health, emotional and spiritual well-being of these women and their children. Pray for work alternatives for these women and girls that will enable them to earn a fair wage and a dignified living.

Chile

  • Please keep the children and people of Chile held close in prayer following a devastating 8.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the central part of their country on February 27. Pray for the families and friends of those killed in the quake and for the children and people injured in it. An estimated 700 people were killed in this earthquake and thousands left homeless. Pray for those on the coast of Chile who were affected by the tsunami caused by this earthquake, one of the biggest in a century. http://alertnet.org/db/crisisprofiles/CL_QUAKE.htm

Morocco, Western Sahara, Algeria

  • Pray for the Sahrawi children and people of Western Sahara, a former Spanish colony annexed by Morocco in 1975, as a battle for independence has displaced hundreds of thousands.
  • Pray for the 200,000 Sahrawis who were chased out of Western Sahara and into the deserts of Algeria where they have struggled to survive for more than 30 years. Pray that God will provide them with clean water, nutritious food, shelter, clothing, medical care, and education. Pray that the Sahrawi children and people will be able to return to their homeland and live in peace.
  • Pray that recent UN mediations between Morocco and the Polisario Front (a movement seeking independence for Western Sahara) will bear fruit and not be sabotaged by pride, selfishness, greed, bitterness, anger, or hatred.

Nepal

  • Please keep the estimated 4,000 former Maoist child soldiers held close in prayer as they leave remote jungle camps and try to begin a new life. Pray that they will be able to return to school or learn a vocation as part of their rehabilitation process. Give God thanks for the peace agreement that ended the bloody uprising.

United States

  • Please pray that God will completely heal Ben who suffers from emotional and psychological problems as a result of a very traumatic childhood. Pray that he will improve soon so that he won’t have to be admitted to a residential treatment facility. Pray that God will provide Ben with the strength, courage, and determination to work on healing his mind and body. Pray that God will reveal God’s love and comforting presence to Ben in multiple ways throughout the coming days, weeks, and months. Pray for Ben’s adoptive parents as they struggle to help their son. Pray that God will give them discernment and wisdom in dealing with Ben and his issues. Thanks be to God for these loving parents and their commitment to helping this struggling child.
