Ivory Coast
- Pray that 5-year-old Grace and 7-year-old Emmanuel are safe and being cared for properly while they wait to be reunited with family in the United States. Pray that laws will change and allow them to join their family soon. Pray for their mother and other family members who are terribly worried about Grace and Emmanuel.
Kenya (Correction to prayer request from last week)
- Thanks be to God for the social workers, housemothers, volunteers, and other staff at Cana Rescue Center in Kenya who work with the 20 children who live there. Pray that God will comfort and provide for these HIV/AIDS orphans who were rescued from relatives who were supposed to care for them, but abused them physically and sexually instead. Pray that God will bless the center with the resources needed to help these hurting children.
Nepal
- Please be in prayer for the estimated 3,000 child soldiers being released from the former Maoist army. Pray that these young men, many between the ages of 16 and 18, will have the opportunity to receive rehabilitation and reintegration assistance. Pray for their emotional and spiritual healing. Thailand (Garden of Hope – www.thegardenofhope.org)
- Give God thanks for the Garden of Hope, a ministry reaching out to children in the bar areas of Chiang Mai, Thailand. Praise God for providing two new staff members to help at the ministry’s drop-in center for children. Pray that God will also provide a social worker to help build relationships with the children’s parents and partner with them to provide a more secure and healthy life for their children. Give thanks to God for the improvements they are witnessing because of the drop-in center ministry—street children, who used to sell flowers in the bar area, from a slum community and many with addicted parents, placing at the top of their class now!
United States
- Pray for 8-year-old Victoria, 6-year-old Sarah, 3-year-old Kennedy, and 2-month-old Gabriella as they learn to adjust to a new home and living situation. Pray for their mother, who moved her daughters across the country to live with her parents after the girls’ father left them. Pray that their mother will be able to find a good job and support her young family. Please pray that they all feel the love and comfort of Jesus Christ throughout this challenging season in their lives.
- Please keep 8-year-old Abby, 6-year-old Annie, and 3-year-old Evelyn in prayer as their father travels the country on business during the last year of his commitment to the PC(USA). Pray that their mother will have the energy and stamina to keep up with these little girls during their father’s absence.
- Please pray for three children, ages 6, 10 and 11, who were locked up in a motel bathroom for perhaps more than a year. When found by a concerned relative, the children were emaciated and bruised. Pray for their healing from the physical, emotional, and sexual abuse allegedly inflicted on them by their stepfather. Pray for a safe and loving environment in which these hurting children may be restored.
