Prayer Requests for August 24, 2009

Afghanistan
  • Please pray for children and families in Afghanistan who are addicted to opium. Opium addiction has become so entrenched in remote areas of the country that whole families, from elders to babies, are addicts.
  • Pray that medical clinics, physicians, medicines, and treatment facilities will be made available in these isolated parts of Afghanistan. There is limited medical care in these areas and the common cure is to use opium when anyone is ill. Pray for healing from this addiction and an end to the production of opium and heroin.
  • Pray for alternate solutions for families to make a living in these remote and isolated parts of Afghanistan. http://news.aol.com/article/opium-takes-over-afghan-families/610851
