Congo
- Pray for Monique and her ministry to orphans and rejected children. Pray that God will provide the resources she needs to continue caring for them and paying their school fees.
- Pray that people will come alongside Monique and encourage her efforts. Pray that her family, community, and church will support this ministry.
Democratic Republic of Congo
- Please pray that God will comfort and heal 14-year-old Rose who was brutally raped by bandits. Pray for her mother and the rest of her family as they help Rose through this challenging season in her life.
- Pray for two other girls in Rose’s community who were also raped by these thieves. Pray for justice for these young women. Pray for those who take pleasure in hurting girls and women in this way.
- Pray for the young woman who became pregnant as a result of this rape. Pray that her family and community will surround her with support, love, and acceptance. Pray that God will bless this baby—who was conceived in violence—with a heart for peace.
- Pray for the young woman who was raped in front of her husband and child, then kicked out of their home because her husband accused her of letting the rape “happen.” Pray that God will provide support and comfort for this young wife. Pray that her husband’s eyes will be opened to the pain he is inflicting on her. Pray for this struggling and hurting family.
Kenya
- Thanks be to God for the social workers, housemothers, volunteers, and other staff at Cana Rescue Center in Kenya who work with the 20 girls who live there. Pray that God will comfort and provide for these girls, between the ages of 5 and 16, who have escaped to the center to avoid female genital mutilation. Pray that God will bless the center with the resources needed to help these girls and train others about alternative rites of passage.
United States
- Pray for seven children who were orphaned when their mother, Nancy, died of complications from AIDS several months ago. Pray that God will comfort Nancy’s children and bless them with a community of love and support. Pray for their emotional healing and well being.
- Pray that God will protect and provide for a struggling young family that is headed back to Tennessee because the father wasn’t able to find work in Texas. Please pray for 1-year-old Scotty, 3-year-old Ariana, 6-year-old Alex, and their discouraged young parents. Pray that they will find employment and stability for their family. Pray for all families struggling with this same issue.
- Please pray for 19-year-old Chae who is expecting a baby soon. Pray that she will be blessed with good health during her pregnancy and that she will deliver a healthy child. Pray that Chae and her mother will work together well and keep the best interests of this baby a priority in their relationship.
- Please keep 10-year-old Clare held close in prayer as she and her adoptive parents return from a trip to Haiti to see her biological family and home country. Pray that God will help Clare and her parents deal with the feelings this trip may have dredged up. Give thanks to God for the loving family Clare has been a part of for 9 years!
- Pray for children who go hungry during the summer months when they are out of school. According to Feeding America, more than 12 million children in the U.S. are food insecure. Thanks be to God for summer feeding programs that reach children who otherwise might go hungry during the summer.

Zimbabwe
- Pray for the church in Zimbabwe, that it might be an agent of peace, unity, and reconciliation between opposing parties. Give thanks to God for the work of the Presbyterian Church in Zimbabwe as it reaches out to women and helps educate, train, and empower them to provide for their children and families. Pray that God will provide Rose, and those working with her, the resources necessary to continue their work.
Faces of Children
- Give thanks to God for the many new intercessors that recently joined with Faces of Children. Thanks be to God for the opportunity to share the ministry of Faces of Children with so many people at the 2009 Churchwide Gathering of Presbyterian Women in Louisville, Kentucky.
