Prayer Requests for September 27, 2010

Burma

  • Please continue to keep Nancy* and her family in prayer as they care for 18 orphans in their modest home in the northwest part of Burma. Pray that God will guide Nay Lyn and Soe Moe as they prepare to take college entrance examinations. Pray that God will provide the resources needed for these young people to continue their education.

*Name changed for confidentiality and/or protection.

  • Pray for the children and people of Burma as the national elections draw closer and the potential for political violence intensifies. Pray for the leaders of this repressive regime—that God might be made known to them in profound and unforgettable ways.
  • Please continue to pray for the hill tribe children and people of eastern Burma who are being systematically annihilated by the Burma Army. Pray for those who come to their assistance, like Free Burma Rangers and Partners Relief and Development.http://www.freeburmarangers.org/ http://www.partnersworld.org/usa/index.php

Cambodia

  • Continue to keep Lida held close in prayer as she counsels several girls who work in bar areas of Cambodia and who would like to leave that dangerous type of work. Pray that God will guide Lida as she works with these young women and that they might be able to enter training programs soon.
  • Please pray that God will provide the resources Lida needs to build a drop-in center for children in a red-light district. Children of prostitutes, street children, and ethnic hill tribe children can often spend the nights roaming the bar areas of major cities selling flowers or trinkets and are at great risk to be exploited or sexually abused.

Dominican Republic (CURE International – www.helpcurenow.org)

· Pray for the disabled children receiving treatment at the CURE International Hospital in the Dominican Republic and for the medical staff and caregivers there. Also pray for an 11-year-old girl named Yina Maria.

Uganda

  • Give God thanks that 3-year-old Baraka does not have hydrocephalus. Please continue to keep him in prayer. Baraka was recently diagnosed with a severe, incurable bone disorder that causes his bones to be very brittle. Pray that his arm, hip, and leg heal fully. When Baraka broke his hip, he was in a cast for four weeks and shortly after that was removed, he fell and broke his femur. Thanks be to God for providing the resources to help pay for Baraka’s medical bills.
  • Please continue to pray for Baraka’s 5-year-old brother Steven who is autistic and living in a country with few resources available for autistic children. Pray for Baraka’s other siblings: adopted sister 2-year-old Oripa, who is a special needs child; sister 3-year-old Zoe, who likes to take charge; and brother 1-year-old Barnabas who has just started walking.
  • Pray for Baraka, Steven, Oripa, Zoe, and Barnabas’ parents as they care for all of these children, and especially as they navigate the challenges of health care for children with difficult medical issues. Pray that a loving community will come alongside this family to encourage and support them.

United States

  • Please keep 2-year-old Lane in prayer as he undergoes testing to determine the cause of his seizures. Pray that his physicians will be able to diagnose and treat this little boy. Pray for peace and comfort for his parents and family.
  • Please pray for the two teenage girls involved in an alleged sexual assault by the coaches of their basketball team. Pray for the truth to come to light. Pray for justice and healing for these girls. Pray for the former coaches who have recently had charges filed against them in this case. http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/290775/
  • Give God thanks that 4-year-old Abram’s heart procedure went well. Continue to keep this little boy in prayer for complete healing. And please include in prayer Abram’s mother and grandmother, who both have serious medical conditions. Abram’s 30-year-old mother has a debilitating heart condition and his grandmother will have brain surgery soon.

Faces of Children

  • Please continue to pray that more churches and individuals will join with the ministry of Faces of Children in spreading awareness about children in crisis and inviting more people to pray for children at risk.
