Prayer Requests for September 20, 2010

China, North Korea

  • Please keep in prayer the children and people along the Yalu River in northeastern China and those across the river in North Korea who have been so severely affected by heavy rains and flooding. Pray for the 250,000 people in China and the more than 5,000 people in North Korea who have been displaced by this massive flooding. Pray for those who have lost everything…homes, businesses, crops, schools.

France, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria

  • Pray for ethnic children and families, immigrants from Romania and Bulgaria, who face evictions from their homes or expulsions from the European Union countries in which they have been living. Roma (often called Gypsies) and Sinti (another Romany ethnic group that has settled in Italy) are at the center of immigration controversies in Italy and France. Pray for those who have been repatriated to Romania and Bulgaria, back into crushing poverty. http://tinyurl.com/37987gc http://tinyurl.com/2896mcb http://tinyurl.com/2c7rsyh

Thailand

  • Give God thanks and praise for the ministry of Grace Refuge Outreach Worldwide (GROW) that reaches out to and helps at-risk hill tribe children in Thailand. Pray that God will provide the ministry staff and volunteers with the resources they need to care for and educate the six children in their GROW home in Chiang Mai.
  • Thanks be to God for Faa and her passion for this ministry…for the vision with which God has blessed her to reach even more at-risk children. Pray that she will be encouraged and sustained in this demanding work. Give thanks to God for Faa’s recent trip to the United States to raise awareness about this ministry and invite others to participate in it. Pray that God will provide the resources needed to fulfill Faa’s vision of having even more homes for at-risk hill-tribe children.
  • Please keep all of the children at the GROW home in prayer—many have suffered abuse and neglect by parents or grandparents. Pray for the four girls at the home: 4-year-old Pim, 5-year-ol Tang, 5-year-old Parn, and 9-year-old Fai. And pray for the two boys there: 6-year-old Ar-Tee and 7-year-old Bank.

United States

  • Please continue to pray for Ben, his siblings, and his adoptive parents as they cope with a very difficult situation. Ben suffers from emotional and psychological problems as a result of a very traumatic childhood and has since been institutionalized. Pray for God’s healing mercies to flow through teenager Ben. Pray that God will provide Ben with the strength, courage, and determination to work on healing his mind and body. Please pray that God will reveal God’s love and comforting presence to Ben in multiple ways during this difficult time.
  • Please keep 9-year-old Jacob, 4-year-old Jaslyn, and baby Nehemiah in prayer as their parents struggle with meeting their household expenses and reach out for help. Pray that God will provide the resources these children need to thrive and stay healthy. Pray that this family might know the limitless love of Jesus Christ through the generosity and compassion of God’s servants.
  • Pray for God’s healing touch to be upon 15-year-old Garrett who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Pray for comfort and peace during the treatment process and for his complete healing.
  • Continue to keep 11-year-old Dallas and his mother in prayer now that the mom’s boyfriend is back in the picture after being released from prison. The boyfriend recently brought his adult son, daughter-in-law, and grandchild to live with Dallas and his mom. Pray that Dallas’ mom is able to maintain her hard-won sobriety while caring for all of these people and working two jobs.
  • Please pray for Dallas’ older brother, 18-year-old Andrew, who was recently jailed for stabbing a man. Give God thanks that Andrew seems to be doing well now that he is being made to take his medications and has a structured environment.
  • Pray that God will comfort and heal 16-year-old Zach who was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma, a fast growing cancer of the lymphatic system. A bone marrow transplant failed and now the cancer has returned.

Faces of Children

  • Please continue to pray that more churches and individuals will join with the ministry of Faces of Children in spreading awareness about children in crisis and inviting more people to pray for children at risk.
