- Please keep the children and people of southern Sumatra in prayer following a powerful earthquake that struck September 30. Pray for children and adults trapped in collapsed buildings in Padang—inside homes, schools, hospitals, hotels, stores, mosques, and a mall. Pray for those who have lost family and friends as well as homes and livelihoods. Please pray for healing and good medical care for the injured. Pray that God will provide all the resources necessary to help with this disaster.

- Please pray for 1-year-old Tia—that God will provide a family to adopt her and that she will receive the medical care she needs. She can’t get the medical help until she is adopted. Pray for baby Jaylon who is also in need of an adoptive family and medical care. The adoption agency has been trying to place him for more than two months.

- Give thanks to God that the Presbyterian Education Board team escaped serious injury when the van they were traveling in was hit by a car. The van somersaulted three times and then fell four feet into a ditch. Please pray for the staff involved in this accident as they recover from the injuries they received. Pray that God will provide the resources needed to repair or replace the van.
Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga
- Please keep the children and families of these islands in prayer as they deal with the aftermath of a tsunami that destroyed at least 20 villages in Samoa. Pray that God will bring comfort to the injured, the lost, the grieving, and the missing.

- Pray for Somali Christian pastors, missionaries, and their families who are being persecuted by fundamental Islamic groups in Somalia and refugee camps in Kenya. Pray for the wife of one pastor who witnessed the murder of two of her young sons. Pray that God will be with these persecuted people and bring them comfort and support. Pray for peace and healing in the hearts of those affected by this violence.
Southeast Asia
- Pray that God will be with the children and people of Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and the Philippines who’ve been affected by heavy rains and severe flooding from Typhoon Ketsana. Pray for those in the Philippines who may be faced with an even more powerful storm—super Typhoon Parma—that is expected to make landfall October 3.

- Please pray for newborn Kiah and her 1½ -year-old brother Aven who are in child protective custody. Pray for their mother who struggles with addiction and mental illness. Pray God will provide a loving home for these children and healing for their mother. Pray God will bring comfort to their grandmother, who is so distressed by this situation.
- Pray for 13-year-old Taylor whose troubling behavior is putting her at great risk. Pray for her grandmother who is very concerned about this grandchild. Pray for the healing of their extended family which has a history of emotional and physical abuse.
- Please pray for 5-year-old Darlene* who seems to be physically neglected. When Darlene arrives at school each day, she hasn’t been bathed nor had her teeth brushed. Thanks be to God for caring teachers and staff at her school who help clean her each day. Pray that Darlene’s parents or guardians are able to learn how to properly care for this precious little girl.
Faces of Children
- Give thanks to God for the opportunity to share the ministry of Faces of Children with so many people at Nipomo Community Presbyterian Church’s women’s retreat and Sunday worship service several weekends ago in California. Pray for guidance as the members of this congregation seek God’s will as it pertains to prayer for children and putting legs on those prayers. Thank God for the new prayer partners in the Nipomo, California area who committed to pray for children at risk.
