Kazakhstan
- Pray for children and families affected by severe flooding late last month in Kazakhstan. More than 12,000 people were evacuated after rain-swollen rivers washed away homes, schools, roads and bridges late last month. (Reuters)
Nepal
- Please pray for the estimated seven thousand Bhutan children, youth and adults in eastern Nepal who have been left homeless after a fire destroyed 80 percent of the refugee camp in which they were living. Many lost everything in the fire, including vital identity documents. (UNHCR) Give thanks to God for the quick response of government and aid agencies in providing help for these refugees.
Liberia
- Please remember in prayer the children of Liberia who have been sexually exploited, abused, and/or deprived of education. Pray for their healing and wellbeing.
- Pray for the girls and women of Liberia who still face significant risk of sexual violence. The majority of women do not report rapes because they have accepted it as a part of everyday life. An estimated fifty percent of the reported rape cases are committed on victims between the ages of 10 and 14 years. (UNICEF)
- Give thanks to God for UNICEF and other organizations that work to protect women and children against gender-based violence and that promote a legal infrastructure to defend them.
Madagascar
- Pray for the children and people affected by Cyclone Ivan, one of the largest cyclones ever to hit Madagascar. Almost 200,000 people have been left homeless in the wake of this destructive storm. (Reuters)
Ecuador
- Please remember in prayer the children of Ecuador who have been affected by severe flooding from the heaviest rains to hit their country in 25 years. Approximately 300,000 people have been affected by this crisis in the western coastal provinces. (Reuters) Pray for those who have lost homes, schools and crops. Flooding has damaged 30 percent of the crops and there are fears of a food shortage. (Reuters)
