Prayer Requests for February 25, 2008

Southern Africa

  • Pray for children who have suffered from the effects of lingering drought, and now from flooding in many parts of Southern Africa. Parched lands and hardened topsoil were unable to absorb the heavy amounts of rain that started in late December and in January in parts of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Malawi. • Pray for those who have lost homes, schools and crops in the flooding and for children are at great risk of illness from waterborne diseases. Pray for those who have been displaced and lost everything. Give thanks to God for non-governmental agencies (NGOs) like World Vision who respond quickly to the needs of these hurting children and people.

China

  • Please pray for the children and people of China who were adversely affected by the heavy snow and extremely cold weather in January and earlier this month. Parts of the country suffered their coldest, harshest winter in 100 years. Nearly 80 million people were affected across provinces in the southern and central parts of China. Many were left without power and water and there is concern that food production will be affected by crop destruction. (Reuters BBC News)
