Prayer Requests for the week of October 8, 2007

Sudan
· Please pray for the children of Darfur who have been adversely affected by the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese government and rebel groups. Violence and disease have killed an estimated 450,000 people and displaced 2.5 million. Last week, rebels attacked an African Union peacekeepers base in northern Darfur. (Washington Post) Pray that the peace talks this month will be productive.

United States
· Please be in prayer for a 15-year-old sex offender who has no place to go and will be released soon from a juvenile correction facility. His family and community do not want him back. Pray for this young man’s healing and redemption. Pray that he will find a stable home and that he will be surrounded by those who can guide him to make better choices for his life. Pray for healing mercies and restoration for his victim(s).
· Give thanks to God for answering prayers! Praise God that three sisters (ages 5, 7 and 10) who were in separate foster care placements are now together in one foster home. Please continue to pray that they will be placed in a more permanent situation. Pray that their parents will make the necessary changes in their lives so that this family may be reunited. And should the parents not choose to do the work necessary to regain custody of their daughters, please pray that God will bless these little girls with a loving and nurturing foster/adoptive home.
· Please pray for baby Peyton—that God will surround this newborn girl with a loving and supportive community. Peyton was born last week…two days after her father died from injuries he suffered serving in Afghanistan. Pray for her mother, Karen, and the rest of their family as they navigate the bittersweet experiences of the last week.

China
· Pray for the children and families of Christian leaders in China. There has been a recent campaign against Chinese house church leaders and other Christian leaders. (China Aid Association)
· Pray for the leaders who have been imprisoned for their faith. Pray for their spiritual and physical protection.
· Pray for foreign missionaries living in China and for their children and families.
· Pray that God will encourage and strengthen all of these servants of Jesus Christ.
