Bangladesh
- Please keep the children and people of Bangladesh close in prayer as they begin to recover from Cyclone Sidr which recently struck the southeastern coast of this low-lying river delta nation. Winds up to 150 miles per hour blasted the coastal area of this poor, desperately crowded nation in one of the most destructive cyclones to hit Bangladesh in over a decade. More than 3000 people have been reported as killed and officials fear the death toll could reach 10,000 once rescuers reach remote areas. (BBC News, AP, NY Times)
- Give thanks to God for World Vision, a humanitarian organization that is providing shelter and emergency relief to 20,000 children and families in Bangladesh. Pray that more organizations and countries will provide assistance to those who have been severely affected.
- Please pray for children and families who have lost everything—homes, schools, livelihoods, crops, food sources—in this massive storm. In many areas, 95% of the rice awaiting harvest was destroyed; shrimp farms and other crops were washed away; 150 fishing vessels in the Bay of Bengal have disappeared and hundreds of fishermen are feared missing. - Pray that relief efforts can reach remote districts cut off by debris-blocked or washed out roads. Pray for the injured and those without medical care.
Spain (Rainbows of Hope)
- Give thanks to God for the commitment of a Madrid church, Iglesia Calvario (Calvary Church), to work with neighborhood children at risk and in crisis and for their partnership with Rainbows of Hope.
- Pray for the young children and teenagers with whom they minister and especially for 12-year-old Bogdan (a Romanian boy), 13-year-old Imanuel, 12-year-old Kelvin, and three Dominican Republic brothers, Franklin, Deiby and Jeffrey.
-Please pray for the young church members who are involved with this ministry, that they would discover the gifts God has given them and will be committed to putting these into use.
- Pray that God will guide the Rainbows of Hope team as they train these young volunteers.
Finland
- Pray for the students, families, staff and community members affected by the school shooting in southern Finland earlier this month. Pray that God will comfort the families of the eight victims. Pray for God’s healing mercies for those who were injured. Pray for the family of the young man who caused this tragedy as they grieve his death. (BBC News)
United States
- Pray for the healing and safety of children who have been placed into the care of Children’s Protective Services.
- Pray for children who have been traumatized and abused by parents or family members.
- Give thanks to God for compassionate case managers and staff in organizations that work with neglected and abused children.
- Pray for children awaiting adoption. November is National Adoption Month.
Mexico
- Give thanks to God that Rebeca was unexpectedly moved up on the surgery schedule last month and that her procedure went flawlessly.
- Please pray that God will continue to bless her with healing mercies.
- Pray that God will sustain her through the additional surgeries she is facing in the future.
- Please pray that God will give Rebeca the courage and inner strength to cope with the social discrimination she may face due to her birth defect.
- Pray that God will be with her family and give them encouragement as they support Rebeca through this challenging situation.
- Please be in prayer for the children and people of Tabasco and Chiapas States, in southern Mexico, who have been affected by some of the most severe flooding seen in that part of the country in many years.
- Pray for the approximately 300,000 people in critical situations: those who are isolated, with no way of being rescued; those who have children or elderly with them; those suffering from malnutrition or lack of food and water; and those who have lost their homes and most of their possessions.
- Pray that the needs of the displaced children in these areas will be met. Pray for their health and well-being.
India
- Please pray for the children served by the Good Shepherd Mission in Bihar State.
- Pray that God will fulfill the needs of the many children there that are orphaned or in distress.
- Pray for the volunteers and staff of this organization—that God will bless them with the resources and training needed to minister effectively to these at-risk children.
- Give thanks to God for the pastor and leaders of this ministry who recognize the needs of these children and want so much to help them.
Burma (Myanmar)
- Please pray for the children and people of Burma who suffer terribly under the present military regime.
- Pray that the events of October would form a decisive victory for justice and that the people of Burma, after nearly 60 years of oppression, would finally taste the sweet fragrance of freedom.
- Pray that the staff and volunteers with Partners World will continue to find the strength and resources to serve the internally displaced populations and refugees and that as they do, their message of faith and hope would satisfy, on some deep level, the people's thirst for freedom. Netherlands
- Give thanks to God for the arrest of a group of people suspected of smuggling underage Nigerian girls into the Netherlands before shipping them to other parts of Europe to work as prostitutes. The traffickers provided false documents for the victims and taught them how to apply for asylum at the Amsterdam airport. The traffickers also intimidated the victims through the use of voodoo rituals and forced them to swear they would pay back their so-called debt. (Fox News)
- Pray for victims who were taken to asylum seeker centers and have since disappeared. About 140 underage Nigerians have disappeared from the centers since early 2006.
- Pray for these young girls who have been enslaved and prostituted. Pray that they will be able to escape the degradation and violence of this enslavement and the witchcraft-induced intimidation tactics used by the traffickers.
- Pray for those who profit from the violence inflicted on these young girls. Pray for those who use these children to gratify their own depraved needs. Pray for God’s justice. Pray for the transformation of those who hurt children in this despicable way.
