Burma (Myanmar)
·Please continue to pray for the children and people of Burma as the conflict between protestors and the military junta escalates. Security forces have beaten and arrested many activists and Buddhist monks. (New York Times, BBC News, Washington Post, MSNBC, AP)
·Give thanks to God for the courage of these protestors to stand up to the cruel and corrupt government in power. Pray for a just government to come into power in this closed country. Pray for Aung San Suu Kyi, the democratically elected leader of Burma who has been under arrest for 11 out of the last 18 years.
Uganda, Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso
· Pray for the needs of the children and people of Uganda, Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso and other neighboring countries who are suffering from the affects of severe flooding, some of the worst in decades. More than 600,000 people have been displaced and 1.5 million have been affected by the flooding. Crops have been destroyed right before the harvest and children are unable to attend school because the buildings are being used as shelters.(BBC News)
· Pray for the children ministered to by DEYWA and especially for the five children adopted by the director of this faith based organization. The children’s mother died of HIV/AIDS. Pray that God will comfort these children and provide for them and the family that has taken them in. Please pray for the baby girl who was rescued by this organization and give God thanks and praise that she is now living with a family that wants to adopt her.
