Indonesia
· Give God thanks for answering prayers and providing justice in the case against three Islamic militants who were found guilty of killing three schoolgirls in October 2005. The girls were beheaded in an attack as they walked to their Christian high school in eastern Sulawesi. Continue to pray for Noviana, the lone survivor of the attack, and for her schoolmates.
Central African Republic
· Please pray for the children of the Central African Republic (CAR), one of the poorest, most unstable countries in the world whose two-year-old crisis has gone almost unnoticed by the global community. The CAR is bordered by Chad, the Darfur region of Southern Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of the Congo and Cameroon. The conflicts in Sudan, Chad and the CAR are loosely connected in a deadly and complex crisis. More than 210,000 people have been left homeless in the Central African Republic because of fighting between rebels and the government. (NY Times) Pray for children forced to flee their homes and live rough in the bush.
· Give God thanks that the CAR government is willing to cooperate with an international peacekeeping force, unlike its neighbors to the north (Chad and Sudan). Pray that peace will come to this troubled place.
· Pray that this situation will become more of a priority on the international level. Pray for hurting children who are invisible to the rest of the world.
Solomon Islands
· Pray for children and families in the Solomon Islands who were affected by a powerful 8.0 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami early last week. (BBC News) Pray that they will receive much need food, water and medical supplies soon as all of the area’s water tanks collapsed. Pray that God will comfort these frightened children and sustain them through this trauma.
Cambodia
· Please pray that God would comfort 12-year-old Va Ling who recently had to bury his mother. Va Ling was orphaned when his mother died of tuberculosis. Pray that Va Ling will be embraced by his community and brought up in a compassionate and loving home.
