estimated one half million children who are prostituted in Brazil. Pray for
those drawn into prostitution as a way to escape extreme poverty or drug use in

Pray for girl
children whose fathers consider them a source of income to be exploited. Pray
this cultural attitude, often found in Brazil’s northeastern Ceará state, will
be replaced with one of love, respect, and compassion.

Pray for children
in the tourist city of Fortaleza, Brazil’s main prostitution hub, who are
exploited by those traveling to the area specifically for child sex tourism.
Young girls are in very high demand here.

Please pray for
children at risk of commercial sexual exploitation, especially as the 2014
soccer World Cup approaches next June.

Pray for those in
government and non-profit organizations who are working hard to address the
sexual exploitation of children. Please pray their efforts to set up programs
to fight the prostitution of children in Brazil’s World Cup host cities will
bear fruit.

Please keep
3-month-old Iris close in prayer as she recovers from cardiac pulmonary edema.
Pray Iris will grow stable enough to have much needed heart surgery soon. Pray
she won’t develop any infections and that her lungs will be completely healed

Give thanks to
God the caregivers at Iris’ orphanage took the risk to move her by overnight
train to a better equipped hospital in Beijing where she was placed in the
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Pray for Iris’
nannies from her former orphanage and her caregivers from New Day Foster Home
as they wait for news about this “tiny, little girl with the beautiful face.”

Please keep in
prayer the girl children of India who are unwanted… who are considered financial
burdens by their parents… who are at risk of being killed after birth because of

Pray for baby
girls who are literally thrown away in ditches, garbage pits, or trash cans by
parents who can’t afford to pay dowries for these daughters.

Please pray for baby
and toddler girls who’ve been placed anonymously by their parents in the care
of the government through a controversial “Cradle Babies” scheme to end the
infanticide of female children.

Pray God will
provide loving and safe homes for each of these “Cradle Babies,” infants who
have been left by their parents in dozens of empty cradles placed in hospitals,
welfare centers, and government offices. The babies are sent to registered
orphanages and then put up for adoption.
o
Give thanks to
God that out of the 3,700 children (mostly girls) abandoned by their parents
since the program began 20 years ago, more than 3,600 of them have been adopted.

Pray for a change
of cultural attitude in areas of India where male children are preferred over
female ones and the illegal practice of aborting female fetuses continues. An
estimated 12 million Indian girls have been aborted over the last three decades

Pray for cultural
transformation in areas of India where women have little to no status and girls
are abandoned or killed soon after birth because of the social and financial
pressures associated with dowries.

Pray state and
local governments in India will focus on the root issues of female infanticide
and feticide and not legitimize the abandonment of girl children.

Please
pray for 20-month-old Korbin and 5-month-old Blake during this season of loss
and grief. The boys’ mother was murdered the week before Thanksgiving,
allegedly by their father. Pray God will provide a stable community of love and

siblings, and friends of their mother Samantha who had been estranged from
