- Please pray for the children of west and central Africa who have been affected by one of the biggest cholera epidemics in the region’s history. The three major cross-border cholera outbreaks are in the Lake Chad Basin (Chad, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Niger), the West Congo Basin (Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, and the Central African Republic), and Lake Tanganyika (Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi).
- Pray for the more than 85,000 people who have been infected with the disease and for the families and friends of those killed by it. Please pray that proper medical treatment will be available to each person suffering from this acute intestinal infection that causes severe diarrhea and vomiting and has a very short incubation period. Pray for malnourished children in these areas as they are very vulnerable to being infected by cholera.
- Pray that the rapid spread of this disease along waterways between and within countries can be stopped. Pray that clean water sources and education about cholera prevention are made available throughout the region. Give God thanks for the treatment kits provided by UNICEF and the community awareness campaigns on hygiene and sanitation they are also conducting. http://tinyurl.com/62kd9w5

Pray for those who are forced into prostitution and for those who become drug addicts, seasoned criminals, or fall prey to Islamist militants. http://tinyurl.com/3g4fs94
