Afghanistan
- Please pray for Afghan children who are the main or only breadwinners in their families. Pray for those who work long hours without safety equipment in hazardous jobs like coal mining. http://tinyurl.com/3zp4wlc
- Pray for the 1.2 million Afghan children who work part-time or fulltime—30 years of conflict, poverty, rampant unemployment, and a preference for large families have created a vast underage labor market.
- Pray that Afghanistan’s recently drafted social policy guidelines will be enforced and will protect children from dangerous work conditions like dust and gases that can cause cancer and respiratory illnesses as well as underground explosions.
- Please pray for viable solutions to end poverty in Afghanistan, one of the poorest countries in the world.
- Pray for the 15 million children of Afghanistan who make up half the country’s population—one quarter of them die before they reach age 5.
India (Dalit Freedom Network – www.dalitnetwork.org)
- Please pray for the Dalit Freedom Network (DFN) volunteers, interns, and workers on the ground in India who teach, serve in the ministry’s economic development programs, treat the sick in DFN’s clinics and hospitals, and carry forward the Dalit freedom and justice movement every day. Pray God will encourage and sustain them in this challenging work.
Uganda
- Please keep the players and coaches of Uganda’s Rev. John Foundation Little League team held close in prayer as they deal with the disappointment of being denied visas to travel to the United States for the Little League World Series. This foundation team, made up of boys from very poor families, was the first African team to qualify for the Little League World Series. http://tinyurl.com/3nvnlyd

- Pray for the 3-year-old who received one of Jenny’s kidneys; for the 18-year-old girl who received Jenny’s heart; and for the 26-year-old who received Jenny’s pancreas, intestines, liver, and other kidney. Please pray the donor recipients recover fully from these transplant surgeries.
- Pray for children and staff returning to school in North Dakota and other Midwestern states that were affected by heavy flooding last month. Many schools, homes, and neighborhoods were damaged. Pray for school administrators and board members as they make decisions about and arrangements for temporary school facilities.
- Please keep in prayer the children and people along the eastern coast of the United States—from North Carolina to Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine—dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Irene and the heavy rains and flooding this storm caused. http://tinyurl.com/3pmw94k http://tinyurl.com/3m9lu2s
- Continue to keep 9-month-old Lexi held close in prayer. Shortly after birth, Lexi was diagnosed with periventricular leukomalacia (http://tinyurl.com/42uaupe), a type of brain injury that’s associated with neurological and developmental problems in growing babies. Give God thanks that she continues to pass her developmental milestones and that the hole in Lexi’s heart has closed!
- Pray for God’s comforting peace for the family and friends of Lexi’s biological mother Sherrie* who was brutally murdered last month. Please pray for Sherrie’s family and those who cared for this deeply troubled young woman who struggled with drug addiction and homelessness.
*Name changed for confidentiality and/or protection.
- Pray for Lexi’s adoptive parents as they care for this precious baby. Pray they continue to trust God with Lexi’s potential health or developmental issues and with the adoption process.
Faces of Children
- Please continue to pray that more churches and individuals will join with the ministry of Faces of Children in spreading awareness about children in crisis and inviting more people to pray for children at risk.
