Prayer Requests for the Week of August 8, 2011

Burma (Partners Relief and Development – http://www.partnersworld.org/usa/)

  • Pray for the 10,000 people and children from Kachin State in Burma who have fled their homes because of violent attacks by the Burma Army. Pray for these displaced ethnic hill tribe people, mostly women and children, who ran from their homes with only what they could carry. Pray for those whose food and money is running out quickly. Give thanks to God for the humanitarian aid provided by Partners Relief and Development and Free Burma Rangers. http://blog.partnersworld.org/?p=1647 http://www.freeburmarangers.org/
  • Pray that the leaders of Burma’s reclusive government will know freedom from fear and paranoia in the healing love of Jesus Christ.

Haiti (Covenant Children – http://www.covenantchild.org/)

  • Please continue to pray for Covenant Children, Inc.’s Instruments of Change® mission team as they lead a free, week-long music camp for 110 students at the Quisqueya Chapel in Delmas Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Instruments of Change® teaches leadership and life skills as well as bringing professional musical instruction, music instruments, and music enrichment to disadvantaged communities in the United States, Africa, and Haiti.
  • Give thanks to God for answering prayers regarding the team’s travels and health and for the more than 300 donated musical instruments making it through customs without difficulty.
  • Also give God grateful thanks for bringing so many children to this camp. Pray for each child…that she or he might find comfort and joy in the music that child lifts to God in praise. Thanks be to God for the wonderful student translators and the amazing job they are doing helping the team.
  • Continue to pray for the dedicated adults who mentor and care for these children (most of whom have been orphaned). Pray for the staff and volunteers with Covenant Children, Inc. and for God’s continued blessings on Pastor Bobby, his wife Magalie, and music director Ronald.

Liberia (Hinds Feet Ministries, Inc. – www.hindsfeetministries.org)

  • Give God thanks for the work of the staff and volunteers with Hinds Feet Ministries, Inc. as they protect, educate, and equip children for wholesome and effective lives in their communities. Pray that God will continue to sustain these leaders and volunteers in their work of spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ; teaching Biblical and academic studies in classes, seminars, and conferences; and providing practical skills training programs.
  • Thanks be to God for providing the resources to repair massive leaks in the roof of the ministry building and for providing a break during this rainy season in which to make those repairs.
  • Please pray for the children who will start at Heritage Early Learning Center in September. Give thanks for the opportunity they will have to attend classes and receive an education. And keep the children and staff of Hinds Feet Ministries’ four outreach centers in prayer and give thanks to God for these thriving centers.
  • Pray for the staff and teachers as they participate in the Teacher Enrichment and Teacher Workshop in preparation for the new school year.
  • Praise God for providing a sponsor for the tailoring program at the Heritage Skills Training Center—participants in this program can now attend for free. Pray for an abundance of sponsors for the vocational programs offered at this training center in order that many young people will be able to learn skills that will support them in the future.

United States

  • Please pray for 9-year-old Tabi’s adoptive mother Tami (a Faces of Children intercessor) as she seeks God’s wisdom and guidance concerning an eye surgery for her daughter. Tabi’s doctors believe she would benefit from surgery to create an eye socket that could hold a prosthetic eye in place—Tabi does not have a left eye.
  • Pray for God’s favor as Tami investigates ways to pay for this surgery and makes all of the necessary logistical arrangements. Please pray that Tabi will know God’s peace and comfort throughout this process as she faces a number of major surgeries.
  • And please pray for Tabi as she heads to summer camp soon. Pray she will make friends with other girls at the camp and that she will grow in her relationship with Jesus Christ. Pray Tabi will have a great camp experience.
  • Give thanks to God for the opportunity Tabi will have to represent children at the 4-14 Window Global Summit III in Singapore next September. The 4-14 Window refers to the demographic group from age 4 to 14 years old, which is the most open and receptive to every form of spiritual and developmental input. http://4to14window.com
