Prayer Requests for November 30, 2009

Brazil (ESTHERS Children – www.estherschildren.org)

  • Please keep in prayer the 17 girls (ages 4 to 15) currently in the ESTHERS Children substitute family home. Many of the girls have been sick with influenza. Pray for their return to good health.
  • Pray for 12-year-old Vivian who has been hospitalized with pneumonia and other serious health complications. Please pray for her complete recovery. Pray for good care and proper medications—the public hospitals leave much to be desired in terms of quality medical care. Pray that she will be able to come home soon.
  • Pray for the ESTHERS House substitute parents, Nivaldo and Kathryna, as they take turns staying with Vivian. The hospital requires that someone be with Vivian around the clock. Please keep Nivaldo and Kathryna’s 18-month-old son Isaac held close in prayer while he is in the hospital, too.
  • Pray that God will continue to give Nivaldo and Kathryna the strength and energy they need to care for Vivian and Isaac and the 16 other girls at ESTHERS House.
  • Pray that God will provide the material resources needed to care for these girls properly, especially with all of the unexpected medical costs.

Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia

  • Please continue to pray for children and families in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia who have been affected by flooding following a period of severe drought. Pray for the 338,000 mostly Somali refugees in two camps in northern Kenya as they cope with the heavy rains and flooding. Pray that humanitarian aid will reach the areas and people most in need. http://alertnet.org/db/an_art/59567/2009/10/4-172229-1.htm

  • Pray for the leaders and volunteers with Good Shepherd Prayer Fellowship as they minister to children in Bihar State. Pray that God will bless them with the necessary resources to continue this ministry and teach children about the saving love of Jesus Christ.

Nepal

  • Give thanks to God for the work of Morning Star Children’s Charity in Nepal. Please keep the leaders of this ministry in prayer as they care for 52 children at Morning Star’s children’s home. Pray that God will provide sponsors for each child.
  • Thanks be to God for the groups that meet monthly to pray for children at risk in Nepal. Pray that God will encourage and sustain them for this important work.

Uganda, Sudan

  • Please keep Pastor Simon Peter and his family in prayer as they work in the Gulu area of Northern Uganda and also in Sudan with Deywa ministries. Pray that God will protect them as they minister to youth and children in this area.
  • Pray that children who don’t have a relationship with Jesus Christ will be able to join Christian centers where they will be able to grow in the knowledge and love of God. Pray for the pastors, leaders, and members of the congregations of the Presbyterian Church of Uganda as they reach out to children and youth in their communities.

United States

  • Pray for children who are exposed to secondhand smut by people watching pornography in public places on computers, mobile phones, or DVD players.
