Prayer Requests for December 7, 2009

Burma

  • Please continue to keep in prayer the ethnic children and people of Burma who live in fear and terror of their own government. The Burma army attacks, displaces, tortures, rapes, and kills their own people with impunity.
  • Pray for the safety of children and people who have been chased from their homes and are now hiding in the jungle. Pray for humanitarian aid to reach them—food and medical supplies are scarce and many children are ill.
  • Pray for villagers who are forced to be porters and laborers for the Burma Army and who aren’t allowed to tend their crops. Pray for the children in these villages who don’t have enough to eat because their parents can’t farm.
  • Please pray for justice for the children of this country.
  • Pray for those who work with Free Burma Rangers and Partners Relief and Development as they minister to these persecuted children and people. Give thanks to God for their compassion and sacrifice on behalf of the vulnerable.http://www.freeburmarangers.org/     http://www.partnersworld.org/usa/

Cambodia, India

  • Pray for boys who have been victimized and commercially sexually exploited in Asia. Pray for their rescue, healing, and restoration. Pray for safe homes to which they can come for healing, support, love, education, and skills to build a better future.
  • Give thanks to God for the work of Love146 ministry in partnering with organizations in Cambodia and India to help prevent the exploitation of boys. Pray that the work of these organizations will help build awareness about the problem and provide a program to support boys as they transition out of the commercial sex industry. http://www.love146.org/pages/page.asp?page_id=21460

Kenya

  • Pray for the disabled children receiving treatment at the CURE International Hospital in Kenya and for the medical staff and caregivers there. Please also pray for two 13-year-old girls, Jackline and Pauline. www.helpcurenow.org
  • Give thanks to God for the recent groundbreaking of Naomi’s Village, a large facility that will house more than 100 children who have lost parents or families. Pray that God will continue to bless this project and provide the resources needed to complete the building. Pray for the children who will come to live at Naomi’s Village. Pray for the staff and volunteers needed to run the facility. Thanks be to God for the vision and passion of the family behind this project.   http://www.mendonsamissions.com/www.mendonsamissions.com/The_Orphanage.html

United States

  • Give thanks to God for the students at Northern Cass High School for wholeheartedly embracing and supporting the Amanda’s Hope Chest project that provides Christmas presents for children in foster care. Three years ago, sophomore Amanda Swanson recognized that some children in foster care weren’t remembered at birthdays and Christmas. She decided to change that, but shortly into the project, Amanda was killed in a car accident. The student council took over Amanda’s project and now every foster child in their North Dakota county receives Christmas presents through Amanda’s Hope Chest.
    • Thanks be to God for Amanda’s vision and the young people of this high school and their generosity.
    • Please keep Amanda’s family and friends held close in prayer this holiday season.
    • Pray for foster children in the U.S. and around the world who won’t receive any presents this Christmas.
  • Please keep 13-year-old Bethany held close in prayer during this very difficult time. She has been diagnosed with MELAS Syndrome, a very rare and fatal disease that is causing her body to shut down. Pray for Bethany’s family and friends as they care for her. Pray that God will bring comfort to Bethany and those who love her. Pray that God will also provide the necessary resources to continue her medical treatment.

  • Pray for three sisters (10, 8, and 5 years old) who are trapped in a very difficult family situation. Pray for their safety and pray especially for the 10-year-old little girl who is so upset that she has contemplated suicide. Pray for the truth to emerge in this situation—that the accusations and fighting between the divorced parents would cease.

Faces of Children

  • Please continue to pray that more churches and individuals will join with the ministry of Faces of Children in spreading awareness about children in crisis and inviting more people to pray for children at risk.
