Prayer Requests for April 20, 2009

Moldova

Thailand

    • Pray that God will encourage those working with children at risk during this unpredictable time.
    • Pray for peace in Thailand.
  • Give thanks to God for the NightLight staff and volunteers who work with prostituted women and girls. Pray for their protection, health, wisdom and strength. (www.nightlightbangkok.com)
    • Pray for the girls and women who have left the bars and brothels and give thanks that they are in a safe, loving, and accepting environment at NightLight. Through this ministry, they are able to learn jewelry making (http://www.nightlightbangkok.com/catalogue.htm), life skills, and about the Christian faith.
    • Please pray for the women and girls waiting to work at NightLight. Pray that God will protect them until they are able to be hired. Pray that God will provide the resources necessary to hire those who want to leave prostitution.
    • Thanks be to God that two Thai high school girls, who came to work at NightLight on their school break last year instead of working in the bars, returned to NightLight this school break.
    • Pray for all of the children on summer break who will be coming to the NightLight child care center while visiting their mothers. Give thanks to God for this opportunity to reach out to very vulnerable children.
  • Please pray for the 60 ethnic hill tribe children living at the Mae Ka Chan Children’s Home in Thailand. (http://mchildrenshome.com/index.htm)
    • Pray that God will provide this ministry with the resources needed to build a Christian school on the property. The children attend a public school where they are persecuted for refusing to bow in worship to idols. When they refuse to participate in this practice, the children are ostracized by teachers and students—some of the children have been beaten up after school.
    • Pray for the leaders, staff and volunteers of this ministry as they deal with difficult economic challenges.
  • Pray for the 20 to 30 ethnic hill tribe children that come to the Garden of Hope children’s drop-in center on a regular basis. (http://www.thegardenofhope.org/)
    • Give thanks to God for the good problem the center is experiencing—outgrowing the existing space—and pray that God will provide a solution.
    • Pray for the leaders and volunteers of this ministry as they deal with difficult next door neighbors in the bar area where the center is located.

Faces of Children

  • Please keep Carol, a Faces of Children intercessor, in prayer as she undergoes surgery for cancer this week. Pray for the physicians, nurses, and hospital staff with whom she comes into contact during this experience. Pray for Carol’s children who are grieving the deaths of their father and an aunt, both from cancer.
