Prayer Requests for October 6, 2008

Bolivia

  • Please be in prayer for the children and people of Bolivia during this tense time in their country. Violence in the northern part of the country has recently increased because of political conflicts within the current government. www.nytimes.com/2008/09/15/world/americas/15/bolivia.html
  • Pray for the physical and spiritual needs of Gladys* and the other children at the Good News Club at Emmanuel Church. Pray also for the adults, as there are church issues that have been progressing and need attention.
  • Give thanks to God for the summer wedding of Jane and Joaquin—Jane works with the children of La Paz through Bolivia’s Child Evangelism Fellowship ministry called LIBOPEN. Pray that they would continue to grow in their love and desire to serve God together.
  • Please pray for the staff of the local LIBOPEN office as they face a shortage of volunteer help.
  • Pray for the opportunity to open a second children’s choir in El Alto and that this might help them reach their goal of producing a recording for LIBOPEN.

Kenya

  • Please pray for a young family in crisis in Kenya. Intruders broke into their home, murdered the father and raped the mother who is HIV positive. (CURE International – www.helpcurenow.org)
  • Please pray for their 2-month-old baby who faces the very real possibility of being orphaned in the near future.
  • Pray for the security and future of this baby and for the health of its mother.
Pray for Joan and her three children. Joan was hit by a truck three months ago and lost one arm at the shoulder and the other arm at the elbow. Her 7-month-old baby, who was being carried on Joan’s back at the time, was killed in the accident. (CURE International – www.helpcurenow.org)
  • Give thanks to God that Joan’s sister is caring for her and her three remaining children.
Please pray that God’s comfort and peace will sustain Joan through this very sad time of loss, grief and pain.
  • Thanks be to God for the new orphanage that will be constructed near Kijabe. Naomi’s Village is in the planning phase and will be able to accommodate about 110 children. Please pray that God will provide the resources to complete and staff this facility. Pray that God will protect the funds already donated from greed or misuse as the orphanage is built and staffed. www.mendonsamissions.com
