Prayer Requests for April 14, 2008

Thailand (Garden of Hope — www.justfoodinc.org)

  • Please be in prayer for the ethnic hill tribe children taken to jail late last month who are frightened and confused. Pray for their safety and that God will comfort them when they cry.
  • Give thanks to God for the young woman, a street ministry outreach worker, who visits these children often and brings them food, medicine and clothing. Pray that God will give her wisdom and strength as she ministers to them and deals with the authorities.
  • Give God thanks and praise for the children’s drop-in center that recently opened. Please pray for the children who come there, that they will find a safe place to visit while their mothers work in the bars or brothels. Pray for the children who sell flowers and trinkets—that they also might find a safe haven in this center.
  • Pray that God will encourage and support the staff and volunteers of the center and that they will build good relationships with their neighbors.

Pakistan (Presbyterian Education Board — www.peb.edu.pk)

  • Give thanks to God that Geeta, a young girl who was brought to one of the Presbyterian Education Board schools a year ago, is doing well in her studies and has received good scores in her examinations. She was recently promoted to grade 7.
  • Please continue to pray for Geeta—that she achieves her ambitions and becomes a role model for her community. Please continue to pray for Geeta’s family. Her three younger sisters were born blind and must stay home alone while their widowed mother goes out to work. These girls are still very vulnerable to threats and harassment from nearby relatives. Pray that the hearts of these relatives will be filled with compassion for this struggling family.

United States

  • Please be in prayer for those who are working on a new church/home school curriculum that will raise awareness about children at risk and call families to prayer and action for at-risk children. Pray for God’s guidance throughout the development process and for God’s blessings as they pilot the course at a local church this summer. Give thanks to God for this new tool that will help mobilize families to pray for and assist children.
  • Pray for God’s healing touch for teenager Carissa who is in a coma following a 4-wheeler accident.
  • Please pray that God will comfort and console Joseph* who tried to commit suicide after losing his young son in a bitter custody battle.
  • Please lift 6-year-old Clay in prayer as he struggles with the devastating effects of Hunter’s Syndrome (MPS). Pray that God’s healing touch will bless this little boy and comfort his family as they witness his regression.
  • Pray for the family of 12-year-old Bethany* who was killed in a car accident last month as they attempt to cope with this devastating loss. Please pray for Bethany’s friends and classmates as they mourn her.
