- Pray for children who are persecuted, victimized, abused, and/or abandoned by relatives and community members who have accused them of being witches. The number of children charged with being witches is massive in Angola, according to a UN Children’s Fund report last year. (NY Times)
- Give thanks to God for the boy’s shelter in Uige Province that is operated by St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Persecution of children is increasing in this northern Angolan province, according to a church leader.
- Please be in prayer for girls accused of witchcraft. There are no shelters for them in many of these places.
- Give praise to God for the change of direction in the Angolan city of Mbanza Congo where committees were formed to monitor children’s rights and violence against children has decreased.
Russia (Rainbows of Hope)
- Please be in prayer for the children and young people growing up in orphanages in St. Petersburg.
- Pray for those young people who are preparing to leave the orphanage to enter the “outside world” which is quite foreign to them.
- Give thanks to God for the transitional homes where some of these young people can learn basic life skills, computer training and English—opportunities that may give them a chance for a better future.
- Praise God for the growing interest among Russian Christians in becoming more involved in outreach and ministry to children and orphans.
- Pray for the Rainbows of Hope Russia team as they work with Russian churches and organizations. Pray that God will provide more opportunities for practical ministry and use the team to affect the lives of those around them. Ask God to sustain and encourage them in their ministry. Pray that the team will continue with their important work of prayer for the children, youth and adults of Russia.
- Please pray for the Russian teenagers who attended the YWAM camps over the summer. Pray that what these Christian young people learned over the summer will prepare them for short-term mission trips and help them share their faith with others.
