Prayer Requests for the week of September 10, 2007

Burma
- Please be in prayer for the children and people of Burma during a time of unrest and street protests. An unannounced increase in the cost of fuel and cooking gas set off peaceful demonstrations by activists across this closed nation last month. The ruling military junta responded with extreme force and continues to hunt down opposition activists. (NY Times, Washington Post)

- Pray for the release of those arrested; for action by the international community; and for meaningful dialogue between the regime, the democracy movement and the ethnic nationalities. (Christian Solidarity Worldwide)

Indonesia
- Pray for the children of Indonesia and especially for a group of street children receiving support from a Christian ministry in this predominately Muslim country. These children come from poor, dysfunctional families and often are unable to continue their education because they cannot afford the school fees.

- Give thanks to God for the Christian organization that provides these street children with scholarships and private tutoring. Please pray that these children’s physical needs will be met—that they will be able to continue their formal education and will be able to have stable and loving homes. Pray that they will experience a close relationship with Jesus Christ and know the peace that surpasses all understanding.

- Please pray that those who minister to children in Indonesia will take advantage of a five month course starting this month and from that, many more qualified child caregivers will emerge.

- Please pray for children who are trafficked from West Kalimantan to North Sulawesi and for a raised awareness of this issue. Pray for trafficked children who are at great risk to contract HIV/AIDS which is spreading quickly throughout Indonesia. Thanks be to God for the work of this Christian organization in fighting trafficking and raising awareness about the spread of HIV/AIDS.
