Prayer Requests for February 21, 2007

Colombia
· Please be in prayer for five siblings, 15-year-old Alejandro, 13-year-old Cristian, 11-year-old Camelo, 7-year-old Yerly, and 4-year-old Noriana, whose father was killed and who were abandoned by their mother. These vulnerable children face some daunting challenges. They were displaced from their home and now live with an uncle.
· Pray that the atmosphere in this home is one of love and support.
· Pray that Alejandro, who quit school to help pay for the family’s living expenses, will be able to continue his education.
· And pray for God’s healing mercies for the two girls—both have serious eye problems and one is blind in one eye.
· Give thanks to God that these precious children feel compelled to attend church services on their own and praise God for the care and support their church has provided.
· Please pray for children and youth who have been displaced from their homes and live in squalor in IDP (internally displaced people) camps in Colombia.

Russia
· Please pray that God would bring comfort to Leon, 14-year-old Boris and 12-year-old Irina following the death of their mother earlier this month.
· Pray that Leon would know God’s presence and strength as he takes responsibility for his younger brother and sister.
· Please pray that the way would be made clear and uncomplicated for Leon to take his siblings back to Israel with him where he lives with other family members.

Indonesia
· Please be in prayer for the children of Jakarta who have been affected by the severe flooding in the capital city earlier this month. Jakarta’s poorest live in low-lying areas—hundreds of thousands were displaced from their homes in this city of 12 million. (Associated Press)
· Pray that children will have access to clean water and medical treatment for waterborne diseases.
· Pray that they will be able to return home and that affordable housing on higher ground will become available for poor families.
