Mae Sot sits near the border of Thailand and Burma and is home to a large population of refugees from Burma. The Elpis School offers education for children who cannot be enrolled in regular schools. Many of the students are slow learners and are children of war. Their minds are not open to learning and often they do not have role models for learning if their parents are focused on survival instead. Several of the children are neglected by their parents or at risk of being trafficked into the commercial sex trade.

Please pray for the 166 children in the Elpis School in Mae Sot, Thailand.

Please pray that these children will be open to learning and acquire a love of education.

Pray for 14-year-old K.K.L. whose mother wants her to return to Bangkok to help with the family income—which means she will probably be forced into prostitution. Please pray that her family will recognize the importance of an education and that they will find another means to help support them.

Please pray for K.K.L.’s three other sisters and her brother as well. Pray that her youngest sister, M.M.A., who has cerebral palsy, will receive proper medical care and education, too. Pray that their parents will develop a sense of responsibility and provide for their family.

Pray for 13-year-old A.M.T. who stopped attending school when her mother allowed her to work in a karaoke bar. Pray for her protection and that she will not fall victim to pedophiles. Also pray that a sense of responsibility will be instilled in her parents.

Please pray for 10-year-old M.K.’s protection and that she will be allowed to return to school. Her parents asked her to work in a factory, but school officials are suspicious of that excuse.

Pray that two students from Burma, 12-year-old T.T.W. and 11-year-old S.L.T., are able to overcome their loneliness at being away from home and continue their studies. Pray that their future won’t include being forced into service as child soldiers in Burma. Please pray for their health and their emotional well-being.
