Prayer Concerns for the Week of January 5, 2015

Burma
·         Please keep the ethnic hill tribe people of Burma close in prayer as they suffer continued attacks by the Burma Army. According to reports by Free Burma Rangers (FBR), there doesn’t seem to be any reduction in violence between Burma Army forces and ethnic groups in spite of the international attention garnered by President Obama’s November 2014 visit for the ASEAN Summit and East Asia Summit. http://tinyurl.com/qg93kaz
·         Pray for children living in Nhkawng Pa and Bum Kahtawng Bum villages in Burma’s Kachin State where artillery shells fired by a Burma Army Light Infantry Battalion landed near schools and houses. Pray for those living in the N’ Kung Pa internally displaced people’s (IDP) camp who have also been affected by Burma Army shelling. Pray God will comfort and protect these little ones from the violence that continues to impact their daily lives.
·         Pray for children and families who’ve been displaced from their homes and communities and are now in temporary IDP camps or staying with relatives in distant cities.
·         Pray for children who’ve been separated from their families. Pray for those who have been conscripted into the Burma military or KIA forces. Pray for children who have been tortured or abused by the Burma Army and for those who have been forced to serve as porters or human land mine sweeps.
·         Please pray for peace and reconciliation in Burma’s conflict zones. Pray for freedom and justice for the ethnic hill tribe people of this beautiful country. Pray all its children may have the freedom to attend school in peace, have access to medical care, be recognized as citizens of Burma, and hope for a future filled with opportunity.
·         Give thanks to God for the volunteers and staff with FBR, a multi-ethnic humanitarian service movement that brings help, hope, and love to people in Burma’s war zones. Pray for those who go into areas under attack to provide emergency medical care, shelter, food, clothing, and human rights documentation. Thanks be to God for their efforts to provide real time information from areas under attack through their communication and information networks inside Burma. http://www.freeburmarangers.org/
·         Pray for a change of heart within Burma’s government and military leadership. Pray they will recognize the sovereignty of God and the sacredness of all human life.

United States
·         Please be in prayer for 2-month-old Carson as she receives treatment for a very large tumor that has invaded half of her abdominal cavity. Pray for healing and comfort for this baby girl.
·         Pray God will comfort her parents and grandparents as they care for Carson during a very stressful season. Pray they might experience the peace that surpasses all understanding when they are feeling frightened or anxious.
·         Please pray for the medical personnel with whom Carson will come into contact during her treatment. Pray she will receive compassionate, skilled medical care.

Yemen
·         Please pray God will provide for the deepest and most urgent needs of Yemen’s malnourished children. Nearly half the country’s children are suffering from starvation. Pray for children whose growth is stunted because they are malnourished. http://tinyurl.com/pbhf27p
·         Pray for all those in Yemen who experience food insecurity. More than half the population of Yemen is affected by it. Pray for God’s provision in this very poor country.
·         Pray for children and families living in Yemen’s capital Sanaa, the world’s first capital expected to run out of water.
·         Please pray the reasons for this season of hunger will be resolved. Food shortages, water scarcity, and environmental degradation are believed to be factors in the rising political and religious violence in this country.
·         Pray for peace in Yemen, the Arabian Peninsula’s poorest state, where Shia Muslim Houthi fighters (allegedly backed by Iran) are in control of Yemen’s capital city and continue to battle Al Qaeda-affiliated Sunni tribesmen (allegedly backed by Saudi Arabia’s monarchy).

Faces of Children
  • Please be in prayer for Courtney and Jake, the daughter-in-law and son of Faces of Children prayer partners Chris and Jeff Laufer, as they await the birth of their first child. Pray for a safe delivery for Courtney and for the health of their soon-to-arrive daughter. Give thanks to God they’ve found a physician and hospital they like “down under.” Jake and Courtney moved to Australia from the U.S. four months ago.
