in prayer for the children and people of Syria as they deal with the effects of
civil war. Pray for a peaceful resolution to this devastating conflict.

Pray for the
citizens of Maaloula, a very remote Syrian city in the mountains above
Damascus, as they flee from attacks by Syrian rebels and counter attacks by the
Syrian army. The city of Maaloula contains the oldest Christian community in
the world and it is also the last place in the world in which the Aramaic
language Jesus spoke is the native tongue.

Please pray for
the safety of the 27 nuns and the 24 orphaned children in their care in Maaloula’s
Mar Takla convent, which was built into mountains where persecuted early
Christians sought refuge. Syrian rebels, some affiliated with al-Qaeda, have
attacked Maaloula twice in one week. Give thanks to God the rebels have not
harmed the nuns or children as they take refuge in an ancient cavern in the
convent and continue to pray.

Please keep in
prayer all of the young victims of an alleged sexual predator as they go
through the traumatic process of testifying against this man who is also a law
enforcement officer. Pray God will bring emotional, spiritual, and physical
healing to these children and protect them from further harm. Pray for justice
for these little ones. Pray for the alleged predator who volunteered at a
church camp at which he allegedly sexually abused four boys. Please pray for
those investigating these crimes…that they will act with wisdom and God’s
guidance. Pray for all children who have been abused by those in positions of

Pray for
the wife and two young children of police officer Jamie Buenting who was shot
and killed in a standoff September 13, 2013 in Rockwell City, Iowa. Please pray
God will comfort them as they mourn this 37-year-old husband, father, and peace
officer. Pray for Jamie’s fellow police officers in this small community as
they grieve the death of their friend and colleague. Pray for the man who is

Please pray for
the families and friends of the 12 men and women killed by an armed gunman at
the Washington Navy Yard on September 16, 2013. Pray for the spouses, children,
and grandchildren of these 12 as they grieve the loss of their loved ones. Pray
for victims injured when a gunman targeted them from the fourth floor walkway
overlooking the building’s atrium. Give thanks to God for the quick response of
active-shooter law enforcement teams who were able to stop the alleged gunman.
Pray for this man’s family who were estranged from him at the time of the

Pray for Jess and
the baby she is expecting soon. Pray her pregnancy will continue without
complications as she has miscarried several times before. Pray God will wrap
arms of comfort around Jess and provide a community of love and support for
this fragile mother-to-be.

Please keep high
school senior Alexis Bolstad close in prayer as she recovers from a severe
brain injury she received in a fall last month. Give thanks to God for the
recovery Alexis has made so far after having the damaged part of her brain
removed as well as part of her skull. Pray for Alexis’ parents and siblings as
they help care for her while she is in physical therapy. Please pray for a full
recovery for this teenage athlete who plays volleyball, basketball, and throws
the shot put on the high school track team. Thanks be to God for the wonderful

prayer 16-year-old K.C. who is feeling threatened by a male classmate at her
high school. Pray for K.C.’s safety and emotional health as she and her family
explore their options in stopping this stalker.

- Please keep Faces of Children prayer partner Robin Richey and her family held close in prayer as they grieve the September 12, 2013 death of Robin’s mother Ida “Mickey” Richey. Give thanks and praise to God for the life of Mickey and the love of Jesus Christ she shared with her family, church, and community.
- Pray for Frances Matthews, the mother of Faces of Children intercessors Susie Foy and Judy Craig, as she copes with the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. Pray for God’s comfort and peace for Frances and her family in this challenging season.
- Please keep in prayer Claire, the daughter of Faces of Children prayer partners Susie and Steve Foy, as she prepares to give birth to a baby following a difficult pregnancy. Pray for a community of support around Claire and her husband who live in London, an ocean away from her parents in Texas.
