Prayer Concerns for the week of May 13, 2013

 United States
·         Give thanks to God for the arrest of an accused child pornographer who had been on the run for almost five years and on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list for a year. http://tinyurl.com/c9ed2ja   http://tinyurl.com/cdotylr
o   Pray for the children with whom this man had contact over the past years…he taught third grade at an elementary school and tutored students for free; he has also worked as a nanny, teaching assistant, youth counselor, and a camp counselor at an all-boys summer camp.
o   Pray for the boys of whom he allegedly took sexually explicit photographs while he was staying in their homes or babysitting them. Please pray the images of these children being sexually abused will all be retrieved so the children won’t be victimized further.
o   Pray for justice for every child allegedly injured by this man. Pray for their physical and emotional healing.
o   Pray for this alleged predator/child pornographer…that God will be at work in his life, healing and redeeming him.
·         Please pray for 15-year-old Adam* who was injured in an alleged hunting accident on his family’s farm. Adam went out to shoot birds and supposedly tripped, causing the gun to go off and shoot him in the mouth. Pray for physical healing for this young man who is unable to swallow and whose tongue has been damaged. Pray also for emotional and spiritual healing for Adam who may be experiencing mental health issues.
o   Pray also for Adam’s mother and older sister as they care for him and try to run the family farm while Adam’s father is working in another part of the country. Please pray for a community of support to surround this family.
*Name changed for confidentiality and/or protection.
·         Pray for Morganne, the mother of twin babies, who is undergoing aggressive treatments for a brain tumor. Pray the tumor will decrease in size and that God will comfort and encourage her throughout the six weeks of chemotherapy treatments. Pray for her babies and her husband during this difficult time. Give thanks to God for the family and friends that have come together to support Morganne and her family in this challenging period.

United States—Foster Care Prayer Vigil
·         Pray for the more than 400,000 children in the foster care system in the United States. Pray all children in the system will experience God’s love through the love and care given them by those involved in the child welfare system. http://tinyurl.com/dy2cr8g
·         Please pray God will provide each child with a “forever family” and that God will prepare the hearts of these children to be ready for the families God will provide.
·         Pray God will open doors to keep sibling groups intact or in contact with one another as they grow up.
·         Please pray God will heal the deep hurts that foster children have experienced and protect them from future harm.
·         Pray God will transform the children’s lives and hearts. Pray they will be able to forgive those who hurt them.
·         Pray for the hundreds of thousands of young adults in our country who have “aged out” of the child welfare system. Pray they might still find a “forever family” to call their own and find mentors to help them navigate life wisely. Pray they might know how much they are loved by our Gracious God.

United States, Mexico
·         Please continue to pray for the students, faculty, and staff of the Presbyterian Pan American School (PPAS), a college preparatory school in Kingsville, Texas, as the semester draws to a close. http://www.ppas.org/
·         Pray for those students who will return to their homes in areas of Mexico that are considered quite dangerous because of drug cartel violence.
·         Pray for South Korean and Rwandan students who aren’t able to return to their home countries because of visa issues or the high cost of travel. Pray they will be content in their temporary placements this summer and that God will comfort them if they become homesick.
·         Please pray the faculty and staff of PPAS will be able to rest some this summer following a busy school year. Pray especially for the dorm parents who work 24 hours a day, seven days a week during the school year, including holidays.
·         Please be in prayer for the graduating class of PPAS as they continue their education in colleges and universities throughout the U.S.
