· Please continue to lift 17-year-old Thomas* in prayer as he struggles to make better life choices. Pray he will learn how to motivate himself and stay enrolled at the alternative high school he now attends. Thomas was transferred to this alternative school a year and a half ago after accidentally shooting another student. Pray that Thomas will listen for God’s guidance during this challenging season in his life and choose friends who are supportive, positive influences. Pray God will comfort Thomas and his parents and bring emotional and physical healing into their lives. Both of Thomas’ parents have significant medical and health issues. *Name changed for confidentiality and/or protection.
· Pray for 3-week-old Brooke who is going through medical tests. Pray her doctors will be able to diagnose and treat this newborn baby girl. Pray for Brooke’s parents as they help care for their infant daughter.
· Give thanks to God that 16-year-old Jack, who was told he would never walk again after being hurt in a hockey game, is surpassing doctors’ expectations in his recovery. During a December 30 game in Minneapolis, Jack was checked from behind and thrown into the boards. His spinal cord was severed at the neck and two vertebrae were fractured. Please continue to pray for God’s healing touch upon Jack during the long recovery process. Pray for his family and friends as they help care for him.
o Pray for 18-year-old Jenna who lost the use of her legs in a hockey game collision just days after Jack’s injury. Pray that God will bring healing and hope to this young woman and her family.
o Give God thanks for the heightened awareness about the dangers of unnecessary roughness in youth and amateur hockey games in Minnesota. Pray the new initiatives and rules addressing this problem will be honored by all youth hockey organizations. http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/348884/
Yemen
· Please pray that God will bring healing and peace to the children of Yemen during this time of political upheaval and violence. http://tinyurl.com/6ppo6jr
· Pray for those who are more vulnerable to life-threatening illnesses and diseases because the political crisis has disrupted basic services—malnutrition rates are rising; water, fuel, and electricity shortages occur with more frequency; food prices are increasing; and health services are vanishing.
· Pray for the safety and freedom of children who are used as soldiers by both government forces and Islamist militias.
· Pray for those who are out of school because so many schools have been closed due to the violence.
· Please pray for the safety of Yemen’s girls—aid workers fear families will marry off young daughters to ease financial strains. Pray for the safety of Yemen’s boys—many are forced to wash cars or sell snacks on the streets to help provide for their families.
· Pray for children and families who are camped out in school classrooms, sometimes as many as three families to a room, after having fled violence in other parts of Yemen.
· Pray that those involved in the populist revolt, the civil conflict in the north, and the secessionist movement and strife in the south will be reconciled and bring peace to this impoverished and poorly developed country.
